Oscar winner Taika Waititi has signed on to direct the first feature adaptation of Alejandro Jodorowsky and Mœbius’ bestselling graphic novel, The Incal, for Humanoids and Primer Entertainment.

Waititi will also co-write the script for the project, marking Humanoids’ first foray into film, with his frequent collaborator Jemaine Clement and Peter Warren.

The Incal is an epic space opera centered on shabby P.I. John Difool, who happens upon a mystical artifact known as the Incal—an object of great power coveted by many factions across the galaxy. As Difool learns of the Incal’s powers and purpose, he—along with a ragtag crew of unlikely cohorts—reluctantly embarks on what begins as an improbable mission to save the universe, and slowly becomes a spiritual journey examining the duality and meaning of existence.

It’s fair to say that Taika Waititi’s Oscar win for Best Original Screenplay is not slowing him down. Quite the opposite, in fact. For we learned Tuesdsay that Waititi is developing a new half-hour comedy series over at Showtime and it already has Jude Law attached to star. Truly the work of The Auteur, indeed.

While Showtime stopped short of ordering Waititi’s The Auteur to series, they have commissioned several episodes worth of scripts, indicating a series pickup is likely. It probably helps it has the added star wattage of Jude Law also attached. Showtime has confirmed development of half-hour series The Auteur, starring Jude Law (The Young Pope) and directed by newly minted Oscar winner Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit), who will also write with Peter Warren (Ghost Team). Signaling its intention to pick up the project to series, the network has ordered multiple scripts of The Auteur, produced by Showtime and Legendary with Endeavor Content serving as studio.

Based on the graphic novel by Rick Spears, James Callahan and Luigi Anderson, The Auteur is described as a gonzo horror-comedy, a twisted romance and a glamorous, high wire act of biting satire. In it, desperate to make a great horror movie after a massive bomb, a film producer accidentally traps his production on a backlot with a serial killer.

After winning the Oscar for Best Adapted screenplay for his Nazi satire “Jojo Rabbit,” Taika Waititi has reportedly signed on to co-write, executive produce, and direct some episodes of a limited series from Showtime, “The Auteur.”

The series, which is still in development, would see Waititi adapting the psychedelic graphic novel of the same name by James Callahan and Rick Spears about a filmmaker who enters a downward spiral after making one of Hollywood’s biggest-ever bombs; Jude Law is in talks to star as the main character. Instead of casting big-name actresses, the network chose instead to select three actresses who have worked steadily but haven't had breakout roles just yet. The 38-year-old actor and his wife, Vanessa Britting, welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Jonas on Dec. 7.

"His name is Jonas. My son. 8 lbs 15 oz.," Krumholtz captioned the first sweet photo of his little guy, adding the hilarious hashtag, "#AllBalls."

The Numbers star clearly cannot get enough of his new bundle of joy, and who can blame him?

"My kids are kid goals," he wrote alongside a pic of Jonas with 2-year-old big sister, Pemma, before sharing a series of hilarious photos of the newborn.

Krumholtz isn't the only star to welcome a bundle of joy this winter. Nick and Vanessa Lachey welcomed their third child, a baby boy named Phoenix Robert, on Dec. 24.

Exclusive: Comedy stars Jon Heder and Justin Long; The Orchard picks up multiple territories.

Film Mode Entertainment has come on board to handle international sales at Afm on the comedy Ghost Team starring Jon Heder and Justin Long.

The previously announced project will screen here and will open in North America via The Orchard, which has also acquired rights for the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Oliver Irving directed the film about amateur ghost hunters who investigate suspicious activity at a creepy farm.

Rounding out the cast are David Krumholtz, Melonie Diaz, Paul W. Downs and Amy Sedaris.

Irving produced with Julie Christeas, Schuyler Weiss, Alex Sagalchik and Clem McIntosh.

IndieWire is pleased to debut the very first trailer for “Ghost Team,” a supernatural comedy directed by Oliver Irving and starring Jon Heder, David Krumholtz, Melonie Diaz, Paul W. Downs, Justin Long and Amy Sedaris.

“Ghost Team” follows a paranormal-obsessed man (Heder) determined to catch ghosts on film. He recruits his depressed friend (Krumholtz) to mount an investigation alongside his misfit nephew, a cable access medium and an overeager security guard (Long).
