It's a good comedy similar to Papy fait de la résistance, part silly part absurd. If you like that kind of humor, you'll feel right at home.
Full of guests, it really feels like a Palmashow movie, as it should, so if you like their other material, definitely gice this obe a chance...

The two guys from Palmashow, makers of short web comedy videos, wrote this comedy movie and play the main parts.
Max and Leon are idiots who go from adventures to another with no clues on what's happening. They put clothes from others peoples and play, in the movie, the stolen's part.
In a way it's like short comedy videos but longer. Alas the trope's getting way too long mid-movie. You can laugh from some silly situations but that's all there is really.
Maybe they shouldn't have written their own film, or not as first writers at least.
Directing and editing needed more work. And finally, the budget was on the low side. It shows.

Comic duo from YouTube sketches makes film. Context: world war II. Style: silly humor with as many references to clichés, ethnic/religious/cultural, so on so forth.
Point: make a parody out of a historical context and situation that have been such a prolific and familiar environment in French cinema in particular, in the now typical display of anachronistic comedy where the two lead characters are basically from today's world and sent back in time, hence the comedic effect.
Some social commentary injected in, between the lines so to speak, where politically incorrect topics are brought up by some characters for others to say why they're wrong.
Fine for about an hour. Runs out of puff and momentum within the last 30minutes. Pretty funny on the whole, just too typical and rehashing of older comedy in spirit and not as original as one would've liked with those two as the protagonists, a bit too formulaic in taste.
4.5/10.

Honestly, I could not watch the whole shebang for sanity reason. The level of the "gags" that come at ultra high frequency is so low, one could wonder if it's targeting toddlers or if quantity is supposed to compensate for quality in the director's mind. I guess if you are older than 5 y.o, it probably won't work for you either. It's so lame, I decided to check Jonathan Barré's pedigree. Beside this film, he is responsible for two other disasters, also with Grégoire Ludig and David Marsais. It's worth checking these two on YouTube, it helps understand how money can ever be spent to make such monumental garbage. They apparently have an audience. Pretty sad.

I enjoyed this movie. As a French speaker, I had a general idea of who the Palmashow was, but I never expected to fall in love with their silly and totally absurd humor. This movie is what I could describe as the dumb French son of forest Gump and Monty piton. The best part of this movie is its humor, Yes, it heavily relies on cliche, but it's done in a subtle way to represent and even criticize the French society and its past. Another great aspect of this movie is its plot, it's clearly one of the most weird and absurd plots ive ever watched and even taught its somewhat unoriginal, its unpredictability kept me hooked. One negative aspect of this movie would be its special effects, lets say it, they are clunky at best and I must admit I found them really bad at times, it's important to note thought that this movie was made on a small budget so, It was expected. Overall, its a great movie!
