First of all, the music. Soaring violins, luscious cellos, soft pizzicato. It was just so unsuitable for this film that was extremely lightweight.
This is lust and late-teen obsession. We cannot be sure if Jasper actually made out with his teacher or whether the scenes of them together were in his imagination. Either way, it's rather disturbing and shouldn't be dealt with privately.
The leads were attractive but didn't have anything to get their teeth into. Impressionistic glimpses of what was or might have been weren't sufficient to grip the viewer.
