If you love Paris by Night - and after all, not only - more precisely Pigalle district, the French Soho, you will like this movie. This is a fiction story but also a sort of documentary about this famous and worldwide known district, which many tourists from all over the planet come for, and not the wealthiest ones. The equivalent of Hamburg Repperbahn, district of bars, prostitutes, pimps, night clubs, dealers, petty carnivals...The main character is played by the ever excellent Reda Kateb as a petty hoodlum recently discharged from jail, a born loser who is half involved in a night bar with his brother. But Pigalle is a jungle, a ruthless world, a jungle for many people, even the tourists, potential stool pigeons. You also have some supporting characters who even have nothing to do with the spine of the story. Good character study in this pretty good noir drama, but although not a crime film. Karim Dridi for instance could have made it, it was his style.
