The story of Kvothe — infamous magic user, king-slayer, and...barkeep — has enthralled multiple generations of readers without reaching its end. Author Patrick Rothfuss has been vocal about his struggles to complete The Doors of Stone, the third and final full-length entry into his Kingkiller Chronicle series. The situation can’t help but remind fantasy enthusiasts of George R.R. Martin’s struggle to finish the purportedly penultimate entry in his A Song of Ice and Fire series: The Winds of Winter.
Still, there’s proof that Rothfuss has been working on The Doors of Stone. And in spite of it still lacking a release date, there is sound reason to be cautiously optimistic about it coming out before another 13 years have passed. That may have to be solace enough for Kingkiller fans for now.

Bucky Barns himself, Sebastian Stan, looks set to continue his impressive work away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a collaboration with director Cristian Mungiu.
If there’s one member of the ranks of the MCU that has really succeeded at searching out roles that stretch him as an artist, it’s surely Sebastian Stan. Yes, Robert Downey Jr won an Oscar this year and has been (rightly) lauded by all and sundry since stepping out of the Iron Man suit, but Stan has been picking roles that demand he loses himself in them.
His last two films are The Apprentice and A Different Man, two of this year’s most absorbing dramas, and as the leading man in both projects, Stan is fantastic. While awards aren’t everything, he’s sure to be in the conversation for some shiny orbs this year. Whether he ends up picking up and...

50 Cent and his hip-hop contemporary Kanye West once had a little competition with each other. And 50 Cent believed that competition ultimately helped propel West’s music career.

50 Cent and West famously tried to outdo one another’s albums back in the day. In September 11, 2007, 50 Cent was gearing up to release his third studio album Curtis. On the same date, West was readying to release his own 3rd album Graduation.
Initially, West was supposed to release the record on September 18, but he’d change its schedule to accommodate the rivalry. Unlike 50 Cent’s other feuds with rappers like Ja Rule, his rivalry with West wasn’t a personal one. The business mogul saw the rivalry as a great opportunity to make history.

Outside of his solo musical; career, Justin Timberlake was once part of the beloved boy band Nsync. He found huge success as a solo pop artist beginning with his first studio album Justified in 2002. However, it was his second album FutureSex/LoveSounds, that catapulted his career and made him a pop sensation.

“Three Kilometres to the End of the World” opens on the most shocking of images: A sunset, lushly captured in widescreen from far back on beach, silhouetting two lovers with the whole world all to themselves. You might even gasp.
Only once director Emanuel Parvu goes beyond the opening postcard to reveal more of his hand, you can more easily place this Palme d’Or contender within the grand tradition of Romanian cinema at the Cannes Film Festival. And once you get to know this motley bunch, you can more than easily understand why someone might describe them with this pithy summation: “This country is rotten. Just like the people in it.”
If anything, the uncomplicated beauty of that opening shot offers the necessary ballast when set against the ugliness that follows, for actor-turned-director Emanuel Parvu is playing a devious game, dissembling and examining the mechanisms of reactionary conservatism with...

A hot, strong summer wind is the overriding soundtrack to “Three Kilometers to the End of the World” — the kind of dry, whirring weather that swallows conversations held even a short distance away, and carries stray, light objects far from where they meant to land. For 17-year-old Adi, however, it’s not loud enough to keep his secrets safe, nor heavy enough to lift and float him away from the home in which he feels increasingly imprisoned. A rural village in thrall to the Romanian Orthodox Church proves as hostile an environment as you’d expect for a closeted gay teen in writer-director Emanuel Pârvu’s claustrophobic study of personal and institutional prejudice closing in on a community misfit: If the breeze would just die down for a second, you might hear Adi’s inner clock tensely counting down his slim shot at freedom.

“Three Kilometers to the End of the World,” the new film from Romanian actor turned filmmaker Emanuel Parvu, feels old-fashioned in its conceit and approach to a homophobic attack that spurs a remote Romanian village into moral panic. It’s obvious from the first frames what Parvu owes to Cristian Mungiu, the great Romanian filmmaker whom Parvu starred for in the film “Graduation.” “Three Kilometers” employs a clinical-distance perspective toward the story of how a brutally beaten, closeted 17-year-old’s trauma is doubted and exploited by his parents and townspeople. The feature, Parvu’s third, blends suspenseful procedural with family drama but is missing a key point of view: That of the victim, whose assault is a Trojan horse into the film’s more macro interest in how bigotry and conformity entwine, and how emotionally repressed adults deal with teen homosexuality when it hits close to home.

The Cannes Film Festival has long been like a second home for Romanian filmmakers, and actor-turned-director Emanuel Pârvu will continue that tradition when he ascends the steps of the Lumière Theater on May 17 for the premiere of “Three Kilometers to the End of the World,” which will compete for the Palme d’Or.
Pârvu’s third feature follows 17-year-old Adi (Ciprian Chiujdea), who’s spending the summer in his hometown in the Danube Delta. As he prepares for final exams and gets ready to start a new life, Adi is brutally attacked on the street, turning his world upside-down. Suddenly, the seemingly tranquil façade of his village begins to show its cracks, as Adi finds himself at odds with the customs and mores of his community.
“Three Kilometers to the End of the World” is written by Pârvu and his longtime collaborator Miruna Berescu, who produced the film for the FAMart Assn.

Apparently, wherever Kanye West goes, drama follows, which leads to the question: isn’t it time to crown him the Drama King?
This is because of the incessant drama following the “Donda” rapper everywhere he goes. For example, the recent lawsuit he filed against his ex-worker YesJulz.
Before we delve into the lawsuit, let’s first of all look at the events that led to the lawsuit, shall we?
On Tuesday, March 12, the “Graduation” rapper released a public announcement that he and YesJulz, the 34-year-old media personality, born Julianne Marrie Goddard, are no longer working together.
It is worth knowing that YesJulz worked with Kanye during the rollout of “Vultures” Vol 1 which was released in February.
Kanye’s post which was shared via his Instagram story as of then read, “We have decided to no longer have YesJulz involved in the roll out of Vultures.

Towering civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, both assassinated at the age of 39, met briefly on March 26, 1964 at the U.S. Capitol, where they were both present in support of the passage of the Civil Rights Act. While their paths intersected only once before their untimely deaths, the Nat Geo series “Genius: MLK/X” presents their extraordinary lives in tandem, despite their famously opposing ideologies.
“So often we’re told you have to choose between Martin and Malcolm: Who do you identify with? Who do you want to follow?” executive producer Gina Prince-Bythewood said during a post-screening conversation at the “MLK/X” premiere on Jan. 29. “But we knew that they were both integral to the movement. Rapper Kanye West’s lack of hygiene has been turning his wife Bianca Censori off amid their global vacation. “He wears these outfits partly because he genuinely believes they showcase his fashion genius and forward-thinking,” a source told Radar Online of Ye’s trademark mask and heavy layers despite the summer heat. “But it’s also to cover him having gained a little weight,” reports aceshowbiz.com.
The “Gold Digger” emcee’s fashion choice, however, came with a stinky consequence for his wife.
The insider went on to say: “It’s a serious stench when the layers come off and he’s dripping in sweat head to toe – especially as he’s not big on showering – and poor Bianca’s nostrils are on the receiving end.”
Another source echoed the sentiment, commenting on Ye who was recently photographed wearing a head wrap, a double layer of shirts, loose pants and tight Spandex wraps in Italy.

Chennai, June 13 (Ians) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing his strong opposition to the National Exit Test (NExT).
The Union Health Ministry has announced that a National Exit Test would be held from 2024. NExT would be a single examination that would replace final year Mbbs examination and the National Eligibility Entrance Test – Post Graduation. This will hence act as a qualifying examination for granting registration to doctors.
Stalin in the letter said that NExT need not be introduced and the existing system of examination should be allowed to continue.
He emphasised that the introduction of NExT is neither in the interest of the students, nor the state governments which fund most of the medical institutions.
The Chief Minister said that this was another instance of diluting the role of the state governments and universities in the health sector and to centralise power with the Central government.

A new Cristian Mungiu film is always cause for celebration. “R.M.N.,” his first film since 2016’s “Graduation” won Best Director at Cannes, once again immerses us in the casual brutalities of Eastern Europe.
Here, the Romanian “4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days” filmmaker turns his camera back on Transylvania, here an ethnic melting pot of a Transylvanian village to which Matthias (Marin Grigore) returns from Germany looking for work and to possibly reconnect with his ex, Csilla (Judith State). Csilla, meanwhile, is met by town-wide derision after hiring three Sri Lankan men to work at the bread factory she’s second-in-command of, setting off a tripwire of prejudices throughout the village.

Xenophobia is a contagion in Cristian Mungiu’s tense and often mind-blowing “R.M.N.,” the Cannes-anointed Romanian filmmaker’s latest social thriller. His first film in the eight years since “Graduation,” “R.M.N.” premiered on the Croisette in competition last year but finally makes its way to U.S. theaters via IFC Films on April 28. Jennifer Lopez rose to prominence in the late 1990s following her breakout role in Selena and her transition into a hit-making music career. J. Lo’s success continued into the 2000s, which saw the rise of another massive artist, Kanye West. At one point, Kanye was set to be a featured guest on one of J. Lo’s biggest songs. But at the last minute, the “Power” rapper decided to use his verse for his own music.
Jennifer Lopez and Kanye West | Johnny Nuñez/WireImage Jennifer Lopez rose to fame in the early 1990s
Jennifer Lopez was first introduced into American households in 1991 as a Fly Girl dancer on the hit sketch comedy show In Living Color. She launched a career as an actor in the mid-1990s, and with Selena in 1997, she became the most bankable Latina star at the time: she was the first Latina actor to be paid 1 million for a movie.

It isn’t that people’s first instincts are bad in “Victim,” Slovak director Michal Blaško’s compelling, apprehensive feature debut. A distraught Ukrainian mother travelling back to her adopted home in the Czech Republic to be by her injured son’s hospital bedside, for example, will find someone willing to drive her when her bus is delayed. It’s just that once they find those instincts lining up with their pre-existing prejudices — say, when the boy alleges, or heavily implies, that the ones who beat him up were of Roma background — then those same people will erase all nuance, ignore all complexity, and do almost anything to drink further into the intoxication of righteous moral outrage. Even if it means shoring up a teenager’s lie.

If Maria von Trapp found Austrian convent life a little suffocating in “The Sound of Music,” she would have been fully asphyxiated — possibly by someone else’s hand — in the austere Catholic spirit-prison that houses “Serviam – I Will Serve,” where any green hills are from view, pain is a holy priority, and perceived problematic flibbertigibbets are solved by rather more ruthless means than a jaunty sing-song. Only the third fiction feature in 20 years from accomplished Austrian formalist Ruth Mader, this supremely well-made chiller announces itself upfront as a cut above your average nunsploitation exercise with its stark, stringent mise-en-scène and jabs of religious inquiry via surreal, Bible-based animated interludes.
Yet “Serviam’s” split impulses between conscientious Church critique and outright horror — complete with shrieking, doomy strings and twisted-sister jump scares — never coalesce into something that fully delivers on either score. What’s left is a very handsome mood piece...

The BTS and Snoop Dogg collaboration you've been waiting for is finally here, and it's all thanks to Benny Blanco! The artists dropped one of the biggest collaborations of the summer, "Bad Decisions," on Aug. 5. The uptempo, fun-filled, guitar-heavy track about making ill-advised choices with the person you love will be a perfect addition to every Army's summer playlist.
While the "Bad Decisions" music video, which was released alongside the single, doesn't physically feature BTS, they were there in spirit. Throughout the video, Blanco dresses up like "Dynamite"-era Jimin, makes glittery BTS posters, and even bakes a purple BTS cake in preparation for attending their concert. Of course, Blanco has his Army bomb in hand, proving that, even if he isn't a bonafide Army in real life, he's a big enough fan to have done some legit research on what preparing for a BTS concert (and fighting the traffic...

During a graduation celebration, the lives of four Chinese are explored under the societal pressures to move towards prosperity and happy family life. The two boys being celebrated hide their relationship for fear of reprimand and possible shunning from their parents, yet the parents hold their own secrets which show their own human fallacies under oppressive ideals they themselves subscribe to.
“Graduation” review is part of the Submit Your Film Initiative
Tackling the pressures of family and cultural expectations, Robin Wang’s six-minute short film explores how these pressures can subvert desires under the semblance of pushing for the greater good of the family unit. Given the short runtime, “Graduation” gets to the point of its message quickly and audiences will easily pick up on the sexual tension between the two young men at the dinner table.

Cristian Mungiu likes to take his time.
In terms of his craft, the Romanian filmmaker behind the Palme d’Or-winning “4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days” opts for long, unbroken takes, building out tension as his camera stubbornly refuses to cut away. In terms of his career, he works at a measured clip, delivering a new project on average every five years.
And in terms of his latest effort, the dense and foreboding “R.M.N.,” which premiered in competition at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, that means putting his pieces on the board at an unhurried pace, weaving a tapestry that takes nearly half a runtime to reveal the full intricacy and artistry of its construction.
