Several cast members come from famous families. Eden Brolin is the daughter of Josh Brolin and the granddaughter of James Brolin. Christian Madsen is the son of Michael Madsen and the nephew of Virginia Madsen. Greer Grammer is the daughter of Kelsey Grammer.
This movie is the second time that the Paramount Ranch Western town set has stood in for the defunct Spahn Movie Ranch where the Manson people lived for awhile. Paramount Ranch was also Spahn Ranch in the TV movie, Helter Skelter (1976).
Filming took 20 days to complete.
