Played this game since launch, and never stopped since. However only now, with the amount of counted they added and lowered price, i feel safe recomending this game. One thing to remmber though, is that this is a PVP game, don't focus on PVE too much, have fun and never trust anyone.
Sea of Thieves can be breathtaking. Create your pirate and control him in a visually gorgeous game world, sail on your customized ship, explore remote atolls, duel with skeletons, face other crews and sea monsters.
You can play co-op with your friends online: that's a great experience. Maybe during a quiet journey you place yourself at the helm and your pal stands on the mast, watching the horizon with a spyglass; or, during a night expedition on an island, you dig for buried treasures while your companion opens fire on approaching enemies; even better, you struggle to recover a chest from a sinking ship while your pal rescues you from an approaching giant shark (true story!).
All this is supremely fun... although there is no real endgame, you keep repeating variations of the same missions to earn enough money and give your custom pirate nicer-looking items, weapons and ships. This should be just the beginning, the pillar on which to build a game with a story progression that goes beyond "let's get the coolest gear".
A source of irritation is how there are no dedicated servers without PvP (Player versus Player). This means other players will be out to rob and kill you and your team members; although conflict is not mandatory, it is the typical outcome of meeting people who are not part of your crew. Admittedly, this can be fun in itself, but the choice should have been left to the player, including servers where PvP was forbidden. This flaw is mitigated by two factors though. One, long-time players don't have significant advantages over newcomers other than skill and experience, meaning they will not be hideously overpowered since even expensive gear is just cosmetic, leveling the playing field. Two, maps are fairly large and meeting a hostile crew is not uncommon but not constant either.
Overall, sailing around with friends is great, although there is room for further improvement.
8/10

The bad rating is deserved. They released a 50 % Gamr in 2018. A huge Mistake behind huge Expectations. 2 Years later the game is ready and nearly perfect for Coop Players. Great Storys and the Graphic is just amazing.

Why does this game get bad reviews? Amazing, child friendly graphics, a fun concept, and hilarious movement coding! Yes, it has its bugs that sometimes get me mad, just a second ago it kicked me out on a voyage, but they don't happen that often. Even when they do happen, they're usually funny! Yes, the people online suck, but that just depends on who you meet and talk to! It may get repetitive, but this is the only game you can do the same thing over and over and over again, and not get tired of it! This game isn't perfect, but it is amazing. And, it's still young, so we got a heck of a lot of updates to love look forward to! I personally think that this game is better than Fortnite!

Immersive and brilliant, fun alone and with friends, sail for treasure or fight what the sea has to offer, it never gets old

This game is extremely fun and immersive, it's a shame people don't talk about it enough. My only complaint is that it doesn't really have an actual Story Mode, but I can let it slide simply because of how entertaining it is to sail through the seas and find new islands and secrets.

Never had as much fun and memorable moments as in sea of thieves. You never know what your next adventure is going to bring and what friends (or mostly enemies) you'll meet

Looking to do quests with your friends? Just getting started? Not familiar with the game? Do you want to enjoy yourself?
Then do not look here. This game is filled with griefers and there is no way to play without them. If you are new to the game, you will not have a chance against those who devote their time ruining the game for others.
If you want to relax with your friends and do quests, you will likely not have a chance when three different player squads come by to screw everything up.
Don't know why a private server option is not available. You should give players the option to only play against AI. It is impossible to get into this game against players who have not left the game since the beginning.
Other than the griefers, literally everything else about this game is terrific. Environments are beautiful. Enemy AI are surprising and not too bad to deal with. Quests are fun. But those griefers will ruin your time.

Sea of Thieves invests you in its world immediately. With its exploration and Graphics it makes for an incredible first couple hours. The more you play Sea of Thieves, the more you find yourself bored sitting on a ship doing nothing. Eventually you see through the wonder of the first few hours, and at that point the game is no longer fun. All the loot is cosmetic and so there is hardly any reason to care when your ship sinks. Sea Monsters are the best aspect of this game as they offer a new type of boss fight different from the Bullet sponge skeleton bosses. However, the 2 Sea Monsters are uncommon to find and often come at the most annoying times. Sea of Thieves should be updated to have non cosmetic items and should be given more Sea Monsters and than perhaps the game could be slightly improved.

After the 5th and worth PoC, SoT is a very good game because you (and your friends) are a pirate in search of adventure (battle, a lot of money or funny explosions).
Not a lot of content to this game nearly a year on. Some things really suck like you can't use your hands to climb on things makes it feel very clumsy. Could be a good game but it will never be unfortunately. Not worth buying.

This game is so superbly sexy and amazing. The sea is so realistic and variety of weapons and gameplay is amazing.
From the breathtaking scenes and excellent music to the epic fights you can have with people its a wonder why it isn't on the spotlight more often. I do have some complaints though, it feels sometimes that its hard to understand the game as you need to find stuff out yourself way too much and you can get bored really quick if you don't have someone to explain it but if you know what you are doing and know how the game works then it is as good as you could ever expect a pirate game to be.
Online players might be considered "toxic" but if you just be friendly to others most often they will have a good response. Don't forget this is a multiplayer game and you will meet some bad people but that shouldn't be blamed on the game but the people and their critical social behavior.
There are some bugs here and there but you often don't see them and my best recommendation for you is to research stuff about the game and learn from it since it will be 100 times more fun to know what you are doing and what you need to do.

The story and everything is fine, but there is something clearly off with the game itself the graphics look VERY uncanny and the art style is nauseating and ugly to look at.
Apart from being nearly unplayable on XBox due to the game's incredible slowness, it suffers in general from a few very bad game design decisions on the part of the makers.
Nobody says it out loud, but Sea Of Thieves is all about boarding ships, and that's it. It can also be gamed numerous ways at the expense of smaller crews and so bigger crews just server hop grinding and destroying everyone else's fun. For what? I have no idea.
You can spend hours collecting and travelling ... and somebody will take it from you. Because "pirate game". It stops being fun quite quickly.
For anyone wondering what to concentrate on - vessel boarding. It's the central mechanic of the entire thing. Everything else is secondary.
Oh and there is no motion-sickness compensation, so expect to get quite ill playing it if you are susceptible.
It's pretty. Though for some reason they really wanted to make Unreal 4 look like Unity.

I got this game in March 2023. It is May 2024 now. I can't name one session of Sea of Thieves that was memorable or fun whatsoever. It also always has huge updates which aren't ideal for most computers. And everytime I olay it always says "Services Unavailable." The game never works right and is so unfun. This game is a total failure and is boring, too. I only got this game because my brother and friends started playing it and I got it on sale. We don't play it much anymore because it is just repetitive and has nothing exciting or entertaining about it. On the chance that you find no players on a session, all you do is collect treasure which doesn't even give you any advantage later on. It is just to add stupid accessories to your ship add your character. Also, it takes painfully long to sell your treasures.
