Having received the script at an early stage, much of Frank Dillane's decision to take the role on was down to his own experiences with sleep paralysis.
The filmmakers were contractually obligated to leave lead actor Frank Dillane's hair as-is. This was due a season break in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead, which required Frank's hair to remain the same.
As of August 11, 2016, the movie poster features a sigil (symbol) from Solomonic goetic magick and it belongs to Asmodeus, a.k.a Asmodai/Asmoday and other names. Asmodeus is one of a few demons from the Ars Goetia to aid with astral projection, the prevalent theme of this movie.
After careful planning and location scouting, the film was shot in only 12 days across 2 locations.
Co-writer Michael Mul appears in the film, walking away as Dillane's character enters the lecture theatre.
