'69' Sunset Strip

As a fan of the original TV series I was pleasantly surprised with this porn knock-off, which only uses the title and private eye gimmick as a launching point for satisfying explicit porn.

Opening cornily uses the DRAGNET musical theme, as Rock Crusher narrates a story about an old case he served on as Sam Shovel (the puns just keep a-comin'), stating his motto "I dig deep". He looks a lot like vintage Dennis Hopper.

His buck-toothed client Barbara Nichols does not resemble her talented actress namesake but rather looks a lot like HBO/Cinemax's wonderful starlet Lili Simmons (of BANSHEE and TRUE DETECTIVE nude roles). More corn: she spills a drink on his pants so they have to come off, cuing "Im in the Mood for Love" on the soundtrack as Shovel humps her on his couch, his small dick contradicting his motto. Ms. Nichols sports a full bush.

Muzak continues with drowsy "I Surrender Dear" and then "Our Love Is Here to Stay" as he cums on her belly. Scene shifts to Sherman Oaks and the Club 69 where her cheating hubby hangs out - a burlesque house with marquee trumpeting "Liza in the Tub" and "Nude Models of 73".

The PETER GUNN theme continues movie's TV connections as we gaze at topless waitresses including Orita De Chadwick (film is reissued as part of a tribute to her by Alpha Blue Archives) and lovely redhead Dalana Bissonnette, making out with the customers. On stage is a live sex show, as "Sunny" plays using an organ arrangement, sounding like Jack McDuff.

Several blow jobs take place in the audience, including by Orita, and the film's storyline seems to have been waylaid. We get 3 money shots with plenty of fluid, following the on- stage "cum on her belly" payoff.

Next scene has a girlfriend trying to convince the hubby to leave his wife Barbara. Thad Watson (a familiar porn guy with mustache) plays the husband. After their sex scene, Shovel visits Barbara again with his report: he's got photos of the other woman.

The voice-over copies the Big Apple with "There are 3,000,000 stories...." and title card reads "The Living End".

Low on content but the sex is satisfying.
