By a budget of $3,5 million, this movie got only $180.000 profit. This made this movie a huge flop in Russian Cinema. The Internet website kinopoisk rated this movie to be #2 of the worst movie of all time.
Like the original movie, this movie was not filmed in the Caucasus but on Krim island.
The role of Saahov, who was played by Vladimir Etush in the original, originally supposed to be played by the Russian comedian Ilya Oleynikov, who also supposed to be the producer. But since he didn't feel well the character was portrayed by Genadiy Hasanov. Later Oleynikov died in 2012. This movie is dedicated to him.
Director Maksim Voronkov lost all of his sponsors during filming because another Russian company was working on a remake of the same film at the same time.
