In Robert Zemeckis' 1994 film "Forrest Gump," Tom Hanks plays Forrest, a good-hearted but low-intelligence rube who, thanks to impeccably constructed American institutions, stumbles repeatedly into athletic, financial, and military success. Forrest is friendly, strong, and hapless, happy to tell his life story to anyone who sits on the bus bench next to him. Hanks won an Academy Award for playing Forrest, and the film itself won four additional Oscars, including Best Picture. Years later, many had started to reappraise "Forrest Gump" for its treacly tone, its sentimentality, and its unabashed conservative bent. This author was in high school when "Forrest Gump" was released and recalls a teacher sagely pointing out that the title character's "innocence" was only perceived by audiences due to his wealth. Had Forrest's decisions led to financial ruin, his "innocence" would not be positively touted.

The 2018 Los Angeles Animation Festival has announced that this year’s honoree is artist, animator, director, president and founder of independent animation studio Titmouse, Chris Prynoski.
“With Chris’ growing international reputation and his role in raising the profile of independent animation studios in the L.A. community and elsewhere, the Los Angeles Animation Festival is thrilled to feature Chris and his work at our festival this fall, [running] Nov. 30-Dec.2,” Festival co-director John Andrews told Variety.
“We know Chris’ involvement will inspire animation filmmakers from around the world to join the fun and enter their films into this year’s competitions and maybe even plan a trip to L.A.!”
Prynoski started working as an animator for MTV in the ‘90s. There he worked on iconic shows such as “Beavis and Butthead” and “Daria,” and created the Primetime Emmy-nominated “Downtown.”
In 2000, Prynoski and wife Shannon Prynoski relocated to L.A. and started Titmouse.

Another day, another lawsuit filed by someone who says that the 2015 animated film “Inside Out” is a rip-off of their own idea.
Disney and Pixar have been hit with a lawsuit by a Canadian man who says that the hit film infringes on his copyright for a work bearing the same title, among numerous other similarities.
The suit, filed in federal court in California by Damon Pourshian on Monday, says that Pourshian wrote a script titled “Inside Out” in 1999 as part of a script-writing class and that the script was turned into a short film the following year.
