Fade Into You

I prefer stories, but director Anjali Kara goes for dreamy, all-sex action in "Fade Into You", a forerunner of what has become the daring! Pure product line for porn label daring! Media Group.

The concept is that there is a significant segment of the Adult Entertainment viewership caught in the middle between two poles: dominant genre of gonzo at one end and the old-fashioned story cinema (unfortunatley now mainly parody/ripoffs) at the other. This silent majority is thought to want explicit sex without the perfunctory narrative content, and still far removed from the gross-out crap known as gonzo.

Kara, as well as her daring! stablemate Lisa Loves, fills this gap with material like this. Five segments depict loving couples going at it in strictly sensual fashion, with going in and out of focus dissolves between shots cementing the dreamy, "floating" mood. The porn viewer will either be engrossed by what he or she sees, or nod off to sleep -the latter is the danger of this low-energy approach.

Because former actress Kara is an expert at sensuality and arousal, she pulls it off, and she also casts well. Besides the star power of Ava Dalush and Jasmine Jae (latter opening the film with an outstanding masturbation solo), she has one of my favorite Brit bust queens Brooklyn Blue on hand, always outfitted with some of the longest fake eyelashes in the business. Oddly enough, Valerie Fox has even LONGER eyelashes, the first time I've ever seen Brooklyn bested at her own game.
