Skip it. Should not be touted as a feature film. Not much better than some episode of TV on a mediocre lifetime show. Bad acting, simple plot and a waste of time.
This is a beautiful heartfelt movie. Performances were great, music was wonderful. I Ioved it.

The film was recommended by Netflix as part of thriller Friday... not entirely sure why.
The film gets off to a slow start and never really picks up and speed. It's starts with a random half story of the male lead which is loosely referee back to at points. All of a sudden it gets to the female lead with no introduction or back story.
It's a very safe film and somehow they manage to solve a 12 year old missing person case when we all know from cold case about the hard evidence you need before you can make any arrests.
It was all very miraculous, possibly aimed at Christian youth ministry movie nights, with plenty of moral story and no sign of ethnic minorities, no alcohol, swearing or even the faintest suggestion of sex.

Described as a thriller by Netflix is actually just a Christian movie with seriously annoying inner monologue from the main character during the whole movie.
Acting is trite and uncomfortable, story line is strange and the disjointed. Could of had potential as an idea if it wasn't done with constant reference to the church trying to help her find her way.
Given it is meant to have a thriller undertone its lack of flow means if never builds suspense and the monologue is so irritating I struggled to watch the entire movie.
Clearly aimed at Christian youth groups and unless this floats your boat I wouldn't recommend.

I really liked this movie. The main character has some voice over narration which is a bit made-for-TV, but there is also a strong undercurrent of tension which is what really pulled me in. Faith and God are strong themes here, but not so much that it detracts from the story if that's not your cup of tea. It also deals with strong mental illness themes, especially in the realm of trusting your own mind (or not).
It seems at times like the movie can't decide if it's a thriller or a made-for-TV drama. It's quite tense, but there are odd moments that are a bit cheesy. All the same I enjoyed it.

Got off to a slow start and almost gave up watching. But wanted to see how story incorporated "faith based" into the plot and it was basically using the same tropes seen over and over.
I wasn't sure if this was a traditional drama almost like the old "ABC Afterschool Specials" of the 70's. But then it dove into this tension- filled, suspenseful section that almost alluded to a supernatural element to the plot (trying to not give any spoilers). So was a bit confused. I think directors/producers wanted to go for a faith-based story with more meat to it but it falls short. Actors performances lacked depth and didn't rise above material. Some of the writing was trite and very "on the nose" - a screen writing no-no.
BUT good points: well shot. Good cinematography and liked small town America location.

This movie was entertaining, suspenseful and deals with topics that I think aren't shown enough in Hollywood today. It had a very interesting plot while still keeping a faithful undertone without being too overpowering. The dealing with mental illness was something that really made this movie stand out. I don't think it is represented enough today and this movie presented it without throwing it in the viewer's face. That is a topic that can't be fooled around with and Faith Street Films did a very good job representing it and showing it in a realistic, yet tasteful way. What I loved is how they use what she thought was a weakness and turn it around to become her biggest strength. The movie is an uplifting film for viewers, letting them know that with God, all things are possible and He is there in the darkest of times. I think this is an important film to put out there because a lot of times, it is exactly what people need sometimes.
Overall, this movie had a very wholesome and meaningful storyline. I'd highly recommend this movie.

A 20 year-old (Nathalia Ramos) in a college town in northern New York has blackouts and premonitions, which pave the way for her to meet a troubled, but compassionate handyman (Cody Longo). They sort of team-up to investigate a missing girl case from a dozen years earlier. Kevin McCorkle plays the police chief and Alexa Rose Steele a young woman in the town.
"Wildflower" (2014) is a crime drama/mystery with paranormal bits that only cost $650,000, but seems like more because it's so well made (by writer/director Nicholas DiBella). This is not a thriller, as it has been wrongly designated in some places, although there are a couple brief thrills. It's a low-key drama/mystery with slight faith-based aspects, mostly because the dude is fixing-up pews at a church facility and is dealing with disillusionment due to a tragedy. The pastor of the fellowship is actually a small role (Benjamin Ashbrook).
So don't watch this if you loathe the very concept of God or want a crime thriller with a dynamic scene every 10 minutes, like "Deadfall" (2012), which is a decent flick albeit contrived and unlikely. This one, by contrast, plays out like real life.
For anyone who scoffs at the paranormal bits, these have to do with what the bible calls the 'word of knowledge,' the ability to know things about the past or immediate future which you wouldn't otherwise know without this spiritual gift. Of course people with such gifts are understandably viewed by secularists as crazy and desperately needing the Psych Ward, which the movie touches on.
To appreciate this picture you have to enjoy lifelike drama. It effectively shows how ordinary people and their stories are more interesting than the most overblown effects-laden extravaganzas (to me, at least). Both Nathalia Ramos and Cody Longo own their roles, especially Nathalia (particularly as the story proceeds). There's an intangible honesty & reverence to the proceedings that appeals to me.
Also, this is about way more than just solving a mystery, but the movie wisely takes the subtle approach, unlike "Deadfall" which smashes you over the head with its well-intentioned points.
The film runs 1 hour, 32 minutes, and was shot in Brockport & Rochester, New York, about an hour's drive east of Buffalo by Lake Ontario.
GRADE: B.

The acting in this film is terrible, but it is possible that the actors are doing their best with what has to be one of the worst scripts I have ever encountered. The hack who wrote this ought to be ashamed of themselves. Nobody in the film speaks like an actual human being, and it relies on a constant droning voice over narration which is hardly necessary and could be made entirely obsolete with the most minor of script adjustments. The only thing I can give the writer credit for is the fact that it was at least 15 minutes into the movie before it became abundantly clear that it was a soft sell Christian sermon disguised as a mystery.
Of course it wasn't a very good mystery either. The only mystery was what the mystery actually was, as it danced around that issue for way too long. That failed to be intriguing at all, possibly due to the ridiculous narration and the constant suggestions that the answers might be found at church.
Don't waste your time.

This movie may not be a major thriller, but it is a Christian film with a good story. The Christian theme is not over-bearing either. It is a good story about a woman dealing with some rough experiences, and the faith is the underlying piece that gives the characters strength.
It deals with an unsolved murder and traumatizing childhood experiences, but ultimately it is a movie about hope even in the worst of circumstances.

Overall, this movie is well done- not a blockbuster hit, but worth watching.
I would say it is a drama much more than it would be a thriller. It reminds me of a TV show soap opera but a lot more wholesome. It has a sense of balance between dialogue, thrill, and redemption. If you look past the stale screenplay, it turns out to be a pretty decent movie. This would be a great movie for all those people who flip on the TV and start watching the first soap opera they come across- I know you're out there! Instead, you can watch this and feel a lot better about yourself :)
I appreciate how realistically dark the subject matter gets, and how it doesn't force God into the whole business like an unrealistic band-aid to the problems that are happening. It gets at the confusion we feel when faced with issues like death, anxiety, lack of trust etc. and shows how difficult/ impossible it is to see God in all of it.
Plot twists kept me on my toes and guessing, and I found myself drawn into the rising action toward the end. The movie left me feeling good that I had watched it.

Stopped watching this not even 20 minutes in. Was trying to give it a chance, even though I realized this was a religious movie the moment there was too much of a linger on characters inside a church, with not so subtle "get back to your faith" undertones. Contrary to the title I gave this review, I do believe it's not impossible to insert religion without compromising the entire plot. This film, however, is nothing but a stage for an infomercial marathon designed to herd everyone into the nearest church.
Yep, that is basically the message throughout - get back to your faith, it solves all. There is no humanity, just missionary drones posing as friends and siblings, all of whom are set to convert mode. The story is very superficial and unexciting, taking a back seat to characters that are so robotic they make you wonder if this isn't a reboot of an alien body snatching film, with the lead characters running astray from the rest of the collective and everyone else charged with the task of pulling them back in.
Get with the program.... or else.
Unfortunately it is not that exciting! You'd think a faith with roots in the Crusades and Inquisition would have a handle on how to conjure the kind of atmosphere needed for a thriller, but instead you have saccharine sweet faces and bland storylines more suitable for the kiddy pool than a high dive. It's not only annoying - it's flat out boring.
I would watch a "faith based" film, but give me a real plot, show some grit and humanity, not this dearth of reality.

Disappointing. Netflix billed it as a thriller, it isn't.
If Had known that it was a sappy, made- for-TV feeling narrated G movie, the kind that would be squeezed in between reruns of Touched by Angel and Highway to Heaven, I never would have watched it.
It's too bad too, because the story line could have been made into a decent movie.
Halfway through I had the urge to stop it, and I should have listened to my gut.

Acting was bad. Script was bad. Execution of the story was bad. Lead actress was a bad actress. The sombre music in the movie was the worst, it lasts faaar to long into the next scene (that has started already). No tension, no drama and no climax.
Disappointing because the story/plot was actually interesting.

Intriguing and mysterious, Wildflower is a story about healing and hope. It portrays characters with broken pasts, whose efforts to find the truth behind the disappearance of a local girl eventually lead them to resolve the struggles within their own hearts. Wildflower is a wonderful story about how faith and hope can help us transform and move beyond life's greatest tragedies.

It is very frustrating to watch a movie that is labeled as "suspense" and "drama" just to discover you've stumbled in to yet another "faith based" proselytizing film.
Amazon is doing this a lot these days... feeding us propaganda under the guise of entertainment. If I labeled pornography a "christian film" and distributed it to christian youth centers, I don't think they'd appreciate that.
Just call it what it is so we know what we're getting into.

First things first, Wildflower is a good movie that has fallen victim to misrepresentation. As some of the other reviews have indicated, this movie has been mislabeled under the thriller category on netflix. Once you get past that, you will see that this isn't a thriller that missed it's mark, but rather it's a faith based drama that is well directed with some great cinematography.

Listed as a Thriller it's more like a Snoozefest. Super boring, totally predictable. It's heavy on the Christianity, low on entertainment.

Not really a fun of dramas but this one hit me.. Dialogue, narration, background music, story , everything else was Inspiring... You wanna watch it until the end.. There were suspense about the real culprit. Hiding and running off the witness. One man who persists to see the real truth. All questions, discoveries and solutions boil into one.. This movie is really good.. It is factual.. It happens in real life..Not just drama that creates another drama.. I am giving an excellent score for this one.. See for yourself
Have you ever felt like God has let you down? Have you ever hit rock bottom in life and just don't know how you can possibly rise up again? We have all gotten there in my opinion. We may even get there again. We are human. We get scared, we feel alone, we get confused, and our emotions take us away. I watched a movie that brings all that home. WILDFLOWER shows us that we are never as alone as we feel, and we will rise above!
WILDFLOWER is definitely a MUST SEE. I can't even stress that enough! I am recommending this movie right and left. If you love psychological thrillers you will LOVE this movie.
I personally am a big movie buff. I love all movies. In our house we even have a weekly family movie night. We watch movies with the kids and then when they are in bed me and hubby watch our own movies. That said, from my standards, this is by far one of the best movies I have seen in quite some time! Now me and my husband watched this alone, as our children are young. This movie did further show that as parents we all need to be very present, active, and invested in our children's lives. We need to talk with them daily, and stay connected. I cannot stress that enough. It is extremely important, and this movie drives that further home.
I was definitely on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. My heart raced, my brain raced, I was captured! Wildflower caught my attention immediately and the movie held my attention until the very end. There is so much suspense, drama, plot twists, friendship, family, and faith. I never could guess what would happen next, and I was shocked through it all. This is a positively riveting movie experience that will set you off on a roller-coaster of emotions. The scenes were great, the actors and actresses did a fantastic job! This movie wins every award possible in my book.
It is a clean movie which is just amazing. Especially for Christian families out there. It is so hard to find a GOOD clean movie to watch that includes faith. There is pure genius behind this film, and there is no other way to put it. The way such a situation can be kept clean, and remain as riveting as this deserves a standing ovation. This is a great movie for teens and adults. I wouldn't go younger than teen years because it is a pretty intense movie. It is rated PG-13. I love that this movie doesn't just provide entertainment. It provides hope! No matter our darkest hour God is with us, and we are not alone. We cannot lose our faith, and we cannot lose our hope. But if we do along one of life's hard roads He will be there with open arms to welcome us back. It never rains forever. I can see this movie providing so many out there with hope, faith, and courage. It isn't easy to touch down on trauma subjects like this movie does, but WILDFLOWER does an excellent job. This movie far surpassed my expectations.
