Ok so,
It's a poor movie, it's just bad. But not like funny-bad... The story is badly told, Blank and dull characters, no structure > You end up wondering who is who even after 30 minutes in. I mean, I didn't even catch the protagonist name because they keep boucing between all of those scenes. No time to know the other characters, they either die or just disappear of the movie too fast.
First part of the movie totally about the killer > you end up forgetting that he is the antagonist and the "bad guy"(We're also pretty much more sensibilised to his feelings than to the protagonist's which we may have forget that she is the protagonist aaaand.. So when we're back to her, we're like "Heck what's happening here? Who's this again?" (it seems they even changed her haircut between two scenes, made things more difficult)) There seems to be random people (blurred face) in the background... That's not professional at all. Who does that in a movie? I don't think I need to go on, it's just so bad, it doesn't catch your attention. Maybe they added a bunch of panties shot, short skirts, teens having sex for this purpose? Heck, still lame.
I do not recommend you this movie, even to kill time. It's just boring.

First off yes the idea of making a movie based on the UCSB killings that left 6 dead is a terribly disrespectful thing to do, so if you do take on this task you better be sure to get it right. Albeit this killer uses a knife and in reality it was a shooter but using the same college and streets from the actual event with the same amount of murders and the Director/Writer Shawn hart is from that area and went to that college it isn't hard to figure out this movie was based on the Isla Vista shootings. Why Mr.Hart would try and lie saying in an apology he didn't base it on that incident is also a farce.
From the beginning of this movie the picture painted of this circle of female besties is not a good one. Many times I felt as though I was more in tune with the killer then the victims. The storyline was also discombobulated bouncing all over the place maintaining no cohesion & not giving you a clear idea of the characters and their development.
The videography was on auto focus in some scenes getting blurry and then popping back in to focus very amateurish. I even saw scenes where I guess the people were real citizens and not actors because their faces were actually being blurred as they would approach the camera or cross by. It also had some very poor acting. The girls were beautiful and their halloween costumes looked marvelous but besides being eye candy there really wasn't much else they brought to this film. I think the killer definitely put on the best performances both of them the high school kid and the older one for the college years, The mask he used was a great addition very creepy and horrifying But that's about the extent of good things attributed to this film.
I've never seen a horror movie with such blatant disrespect for logic, not once but twice the lead character runs threw a crowded area of people and isn't screaming for help while being chased by the killer, I mean c'mon keep some reality connected to the plot. All in all this film receives a terrible rating of 2 not because of the half a million spent on the budget because the camera and special effects did a good enough job that it wasn't a problem watching this film all the way through but with a poor execution of Acting, Storyline, Writing, Pace and Realism this movie fall flat on it's face. Don't waste your time on this one.

Imagine Rob Zombie's 'Halloween' but with bad actors, a completely messed up script, needless nudity, and bad directing... okay, it's just like Rob Zombie's 'Halloween'. Alright, 'Halloween' isn't that bad, but this movie is. It is really hard to follow, has some horrible acting, is very cheesy, and never should have been made. It's story is very similar to the aforementioned 'Halloween'. I won't spoil it or get into the details but the similarities are obvious. There's no point to watching this one unless you have already seen every other movie ever twice, and are seriously desperate for something new. It's a NO for me.

I was a student when the actual events this story was based off happened and so I went into this movie expecting the worst (I watched it online, obviously don't want to give money to people like this). It was really poorly written and the acting wasn't great. It wasn't scary or entertaining. Waste of energy and time.

Did not admittedly have high expectations for 'Del Playa'. The main reasons why it was seen in the first place was because it was part of my low-budget film quest and somehow it managed to appear in my recommended for you section. It did though did not look good and the idea did not leave me excited at all, actually sounding quite silly.
Even with these low expectations, 'Del Playa' is yet another film seen recently, hence some reiteration because the exact same strengths and flaws present in those films are here, that to me is really quite awful, managing to be even worse than any already low expectations. There is nothing good here in 'Del Playa', amateur hour all round.
Going on to the negatives, the story does feel over-stretched and some of it comes over as vague and under-explained in the last third where the film especially became duller, more predictable, more senseless and less unsettled and never gaining momentum. All the characters are too sketchy and with cardboard thin and colourless personalities and with nowhere near enough to make one want to endear to them. Their annoying and illogical decision making and behaviours frustrates. The chemistry is bland and unfocused.
The sound quality is obvious and utilised cheaply (being too loud in the build ups and people's reactions), the effects are shoddy and nearly all of the acting is lacking severely on the whole, that's actually an understatement as the worst of it is horrendous, the only small redeeming merit of the film is the performance of the killer who at least tries. There is no sense of horror or engagement with the awful predicament they're in, and no connecting with the character, it just reeks of indifference and complete blankness which makes the viewer not care less too.
Dialogue can be stilted and rambling while the pace and film drags on forever, apparent from the very start, never recovering that interest is lost fast. The final third is stupid beyond belief and the amount of illogic and plausibility gets increasingly insulting. Found too many of the supposedly shocking moments not surprising or scary and the atmosphere dreary, due to the excessive obviousness, a lot of dumb and vague moments and explanations and the lack of tension and suspense. Thrills are none, thanks to stodginess, too much irrelevant padding and excessive over-familiarity, and structurally everything felt very disjointed and jumpy that cohesion was badly affected.
A lot of 'Del Playa' has really dull and going nowhere plot elements and often nonsensical and confusing character motivations, while too many of the things to make you shocked are far from creative or unsettling. The killer was slightly more rootable than the victims, at least not being annoying, but there is a general lack of menace though there is a little effort.
Nothing freaky or interesting, no development and too derivative, while everything is unimaginative and are more odd than scary, completely failing to show any sense of dread. Everything was just so what at best. There is nothing interesting or illuminating and the drama is overwrought with no momentum and a lot of weirdness, could not get myself invested in the lead character's back story because it was not developed enough and the ridiculousness and dullness got in the way. The direction is barely there and disorganised and the music is ill-fitting. 'Del Playa' is poorly made visually, too drearily lit and the blurry and badly unfocused camera work is one of the film's biggest flaws in fact, the worst of it an eyesore.
Overall, terrible. 1/10 Bethany Cox

If you've ever been bullied or bullied, you have to watch this flick.
The main character was ordinary at first. But the people around him whom frustrated him, violent father, Tim and others, make him to terrible monster.
This always happens, and movie tells that quite casual.

Shaun Hart is a good friend of mine and he makes great films! Del Playa has the right theme and idea to understand the mind of a psychopath. It's hard for some people to visualize that and Hart definitely puts out the message clearly in his writing. I love this movie!
