Christmas-themed releases have always been a mix of movies that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of where they are from or what religion they follow, and then movies that are for a certain kind of audience. Upon closer inspection, you’ll also notice the difference in the quality of filmmaking between these two categories of Christmas films, with one feeling timeless and the other reeking of blandness and regression. I have grown up watching stuff like Home Alone, Die Hard, Jingle All the Way, and of course, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Amongst recent releases, there are some good examples like Klaus, Anna and the Apocalypse, Krampus, and Merry Little Batman. But it seems like this snowy landscape has been hijacked by Netflix now. And the streaming platform is giving Hallmark a run for its money with garbage like the Princess Switch films, Love Hard, A Not So Merry Christmas,...

In February 2023, Netflix will remove a bunch of movie and TV series from its library,
Netflix UK and Netflix US takes down numerous titles each month without fanfare, meaning that many things on your watchlist could suddenly disappear.
These removals are due to licencing deals coming to an end. Often, the titles make their way back to Netflix in the following year, but sometimes they leave to go to other platforms.
This month sees a selection of Netflix Originals being taken down, also.
To minimise surprise, we have put together a comprehensive list of everything being removed in both Netflix UK and US.

What could be better than romances to fall in love with during the holidays? Getting to see what comes next for those relationships in a Hallmark movie sequel, of course! Every year for the holiday season, Hallmark Channel (with “Countdown to Christmas”) and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries (with “Miracles of Christmas”) roll out new film after new film, some as part of a franchise (such as Come Home for Christmas) and even a couple sequels. In recent years, we’ve got The Christmas House and The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls, as well as The Nine Kittens of Christmas, to follow up The Nine Lives of Christmas. One of 2022’s offerings, A Cozy Christmas Inn, was essentially a sequel to Christmas Under Wraps. While we have, in the past, made some suggestions about which movies should get follow-ups, this time, we turned to the Hallmark stars themselves to see which...

Fans of festive film puns are no doubt rejoicing this year over the imminent arrival of Universal’s black comedy Violent Night. Sure, the film may star David Harbour as a boozy Santa Claus forced to take on a team of heavily armed mercenaries led by John Leguizamo, but for many the genius movie title alone is enough of a selling point.
But if you presume Violent Night is the best Christmas pun in movieland this year, think again.
Lurking under the radar at AFM is the exquisitely entitled seasonal romance Yuletide the Knot, being sold by Fabrication Films and boasting a super-rare, double-syllabled pun.
Sure, its timeless story of a small-town wedding planner who unexpectedly bumps into her high school sweetheart when planning her biggest Christmas nuptials yet, a reunion that “reminds her what it is to love,” may not feature a...

Crown Media announced that the Hallmark Channel will bring back its annual “Christmas in July” programming schedule, starting with the new original movie “Crashing Through the Snow,” which premieres on July 10 at 9 p.m.
In “Crashing Through the Snow,” Amy Acker and Kristian Bruun star as Maggie and Jeff, who are ex-spouses but friends first. Always seeming to live in Kate’s shadow, Sam, for once, wants to come out ahead, and he convinces Maggie that, together, they can compete with Kate and make this Christmas the best one ever. One-time Superman Dean Cain has made lots of Christmas movies, mainly with dogs in them. This year, we've watched even more...
Warning! This article contains spoilers, the kind of swearing you'd expect from someone who's sat through thirteen Dean Cain Christmas movies, and mild peril in the form of ailing sanity.
If you’re anything like me you might have some fairly warm, fuzzy memories of Dean Cain. He was Superman! He brought Superman back! Supes! So fun to watch on Saturday afternoons or after school, saving Metropolis from do-badders and waiting for Lois to notice him without his cape on just once.
Okay! Soooo, what has Cain been up to since The New Adventures Of Superman finished? I mean, sure, you saw him in an episode of that one show. And then there was that other time. More recently, he's had a role in Supergirl. Naturally!

This weekend, Candace Cameron Bure returns to her favorite genre of film. “I am a huge Christmas fan and Christmas movie fan,” she admits. “This is my fifth Christmas movie and I just love them because Christmas is such a heartwarming time of year. And there’s magic in it.” Cameron Bure stars in Hallmark Channel’s Christmas Under Wraps, the charming tale of Dr. Lauren Brunell, an uptight big city doctor who learns to slow down and find holiday joy in a quaint — and possibly magical — town in Alaska. “There’s something that’s really peculiar about this place and she can’t … Continue reading →
