The surprise that popped out of Jack in the Box during Wednesday’s The Masked Singer wasn’t to at least one of the judges’ liking.
As reports heralded earlier this year, the contestant unmasked during this week’s episode was Rudy Giuliani, former New York City mayor and advisor to President Donald Trump. And when Giuliani’s mask came off at the end of the hour, the reaction from the judging panel was very mixed, with Ken Jeong watching, stonefaced, as host Nick Cannon interviewed Giuliani.

After seven seasons on the air, “The Masked Singer” is still making history. First a contestant choked on stage, then she stormed off in a diva fit. Now, a costume had to be warned by production not to defecate on camera. Yep, you read that right. “They told me that I could do anything I wanted out here except poop on the stage,” revealed Baby Mammoth during the April 20 episode. “And so I’m gonna take a very big win. Because although you can poop in the circus, you are not allowed on this show.”
The four panelists — Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger — were gobsmacked at hearing the fluffy pink elephant say that. Talk about Tmi! “That’s right, Baby Mammoth, that’s right,” Ken declared as if speaking to a toddler. Hmm, do they even make diapers big enough for a creature of her size?...

William Blinn, the screenwriter for Prince’s Purple Rain and creator of Starsky & Hutch, has died at age 83. He passed Thursday of natural causes at an assisted living community in Burbank, according to his daughter, Anneliese Johnson.
“If you were an aspiring writer in the 70’s & 80’s, like I was, Bill’s work defined what it was to write powerful, impactful, game-changing drama,” said friend and fellow screenwriter Robbie Fox.
During a four-decade career as a writer, producer and drama specialist, Blinn wrote for Bonanza, developed Eight Is Enough, and created The Interns, The Rookies and Pensacola: Wings of Gold.
Blinn co-wrote Purple Rain with director Albert Magnoli. He was offered the 1984 film thanks to his work as a writer and executive producer on Fame, which extensively integrated music into the show.

Hades, the newest roguelike action RPG from Supergiant Games, has cracked the code on how to make a great roguelike game.
“You don’t actually play as Hades in Hades. Instead, you play as Zagreus, the god of the underworld’s son. Zagreus wants to escape Hell, but his progress is stopped by supernatural foes, creatures of myth, and the like. If he dies by their hand, Zagreus is promptly sent back to the house of Hades, resetting his progress.”

Cody Simpson knows the way to girlfriend Miley Cyrus' heart. The Australian crooner had Miley's heart aflutter—and everyone else watching for that matter—when he read a poem from his book of poems Prince Neptune, which is available for purchase Tuesday, April 7. Prior to Cody reading his poem, Miley had Lili Reinhart read some of her work from her book Swimming Lessons, something that made her uncomfortable. "I got all weird because I'm not good with mush," the singer explains. Nonetheless, she wanted her hunky beau to share the poem he wrote about her. So without further ado he read, "In the ancient night, she flies once more back to her home in the...

Ever the provocateur, no one upends expectations quite like John Waters. The Prince of Filth, the Doyenne of Depravity, the Master of the Macabre, Waters will be lending his acting talents to the folks over at TV’s longest-running primetime drama, “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.” Over the years, the NBC franchise has developed as many a rabid devotee as Waters himself, so this special guest spot seems like a match made in heaven. Calling himself a good SAG member, Waters was tight-lipped about the episode, which airs March 26 on NBC. He did reveal that he plays a pornographer — which shouldn’t be too much of a stretch.
“I play a pornographer so I am definitely typecast,” the filmmaker said by phone. “But I love doing these shows that people don’t expect me to do. I was on ‘The Blacklist,’ I did ‘My Name Is Earl.’ I always say yes,...

Hello! It’s been a while since we found out that Disney+ UK’s launch would be running around five months behind its debut in the Us and we’ve certainly had a grumble about it, as we’re fond of doing here on days with ‘y’s’ in them, but the streaming service is finally coming to this green and, er, pleasant land later this month.
Looking ahead to what we can expect to find on the platform, we’ve grabbed an official list of movies, TV series and specials streaming on Disney+ UK at launch, and hopefully you’ll find something that excites you on it. If not? Ehh, there are always those other ten bajillion streaming providers to choose from.
Indeed, you’ll notice a lot of these titles were previously staples of the defunct Disney+ Life app, which is being fully replaced by Disney+, and there...

On “Ordinary Man,” the lushly sentimental title track of Ozzy Osbourne’s latest album, the Godfather of Heavy Metal has the audacity to sing, “I don’t wanna die an ordinary man.” It’s a puzzling lyric because for the past half-century he’s been anything but average — he’s been the Iron Man, the Blizzard of Ozz, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Rebel — but he sings the line from the heart, showing how deep down inside he still feels like he still needs to prove himself. That’s because in the past year or so,...

Next month, Hulu will ring in Valentine’s Day with some counterprogramming. The streaming service will debut its original series “High Fidelity,” a gender-swapped reimagining of Nick Hornby’s novel of the same name. Previously, the book was adapted into a 2000 movie from Stephen Frears starring John Cusack. Zoë Kravitz stars as Rob Brooks, a music-obsessive record store owner in Brooklyn re-examining her previous romantic relationships to figure out what went wrong.
On the film front, the “Bridget Jones” trilogy, “Buffalo ’66,” “The Fugitive,” “Ghost” and “When Harry Met Sally” are among the new selections being offered in February. Releases from last year, like “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” and “Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral,” are also making their way onto the platform.
New seasons of reality series like “The Voice” and “American Idol” will also be available to stream later in the month.

Billboard announced on Thursday, April 11, that Mariah Carey will receive the Icon Award at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards to honor her career achievements as an artist and chart-topper. She will also take the stage to perform a medley of her hits. The honorary prize was established eight years ago and has previously gone to Neil Diamond (2011), Stevie Wonder (2012), Prince (2013), Jennifer Lopez (2014), Celine Dion (2016), Cher (2017) and Janet Jackson (2018).
But which hits could she perform? She could fill the entire awards telecast just with her number-one hits. She has had 18 songs reach the top of the Hot 100 singles chart, more than any other solo artist and second only to The Beatles (20) among all artists. Those 18 hits kept her at the top for a total of 79 weeks, more than any other artist.

As part of an agreement struck in June, the Prince Estate and Sony’s Legacy Recordings today launched their first round of catalog digital releases with a set of 23 albums originally issued between 1995 and 2010.
The recordings, which include such popular albums as “The Gold Experience,” “3121” and “Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic” as well as a new 37-track compilation called “Prince Anthology 1995-2010,” had been largely unavailable for many years. All are now available across all major streaming services and digital service providers. Many of these albums are available for the first time for streaming and download, adding more than 300 songs to the artist’s online in-print catalogue.
The recordings date from the latter half of Prince career, in which the intensely prolific artist released as many as four albums a year, either through his own labels or via one-off deals with indies or major labels.

As Variety reported exclusively earlier this month, Prince’s estate and Sony Music Entertainment have inked an exclusive distribution agreement. The deal, officially announced today, includes 35 previously released album titles from the artist’s catalog — several of which are among the best-selling titles from his original 19-year stint on Warner Bros. Records. Those albums, which include “1999,” “Diamonds and Pearls,” “Sign O’ the Times” and nine others, will move over to Sony in 2021.
The Prince catalog covered under the new agreement will be distributed by Legacy Recordings, a division of Sme, with worldwide rights beginning immediately to 19 previously released album titles originally released between 1995 and 2010. Swedish teen drama takes top prize in the Generation 14plus strand.
A young jury has named Beata Gårdeler’s Flocking (Flocken) the Crystal Bear winner for Best Film in the Generation 14plus section of the Berlin Film Festival (Feb 5-15).
The Swedish film centres on a 14-year old girl who reports she has been raped, but is not believed, leading to her entire village turns against the teenager and her family.
“The film which struck us the most was one which succeeds in continuously maintaining its oppressive atmosphere,” said the jury in a statement. “This film gives us a precise and intense experience of the mechanisms of progressive social exclusion, triggered by an accusation. It excels in its portrayal of the role of social networks, where anonymity can lead to the unchecked build-up of aggression. A great cast, gripping dialog and unexpected developments combine to create an extraordinary work.”
