Many Arcadia cast and crew often felt claustrophobic in the enclosed spaces of Marietta and Cincinnati, OH where Arcadia was filmed.

Many of Arcadia's scenes were filmed in a century-old derelict theater just before it was renovated. The Peoples Bank Theatre is now reopened in Marietta Ohio and is very successful.

This was Andy Hall's first feature film. He wrote it to take advantage of the unique performers and hidden spaces around his hometown of Marietta Ohio.

For the scene where Barker is first introduced, the cast spent three hours under a bar in Marietta, Ohio, filming next to a river of sewage water. During this part of the shoot, a spulunking crew came through the manhole, jumped into the water, and waded away into the darkness.

Arcadia is a micro budget film with all volunteer cast and crew, filmed in a small town in Ohio with no film community whatsoever. Everyone was learning their technical roles on the shoot, and the director used it as a way to teach himself filmmaking.
