This is an interesting movie that I believe is misunderstood by a good percentage of the viewers. It surrounds around a 15-year-girl, Telulah Farrow (Kiernan Shipka) who is obsessed with two things: Baltimore-based Pop Punk band All Time Low, and Film-making.
Throughout the movie, it has some very obvious teen high school cliche aspects to it, such as the overly-mentioned social media, the high school cliques, etc. In a lot of ways, this movie is not special at all, and if you are planning on watching this, don't expect to be mind-blown after watching.
As a real-life fan of band All Time Low, this was enjoyable to watch knowing not to expect much from the movie. This movie can be enjoyable for All Time Low or Pop Punk "fangirls", although it can be easily confusing to someone who is uneducated about aspects like those.
It does not have a solidified plot-line to it and can get rather confusing and unrealistic at times. I, personally, was confused for quite a bit as to why Telulah does a British accent in front of Charlie. This movie leaves certain things unexplained or left for the viewer to figure out.
I rated it a seven out of 10 for a few reasons. This movie relies a lot on the audience themselves, in ways. As a teenage girl who loves All Time Low and has a soft spot for "crap " high school cliches, I enjoyed it. For people who enjoy deep, thoughtful plots and action, this is not the movie for you. This movie is quite literally 1h30m ad for All Time Low.
Overall, this movie really depends on the viewer themselves. If you go into this not expecting much, and having a background knowledge of things such as social medias mentioned such as the ever-so-present Tumblr and Instagram spoofs, and other things like pop punk, you just might enjoy it.
