14 years later Joe Dirte (as he likes to call himself) is going through another saga. He married the love of his life, Brandy (Brittany Daniel), and they had triplets (three daughters: Dakota, Cheyenne, and Abilene). Everything was cool in the Dirt world until his daughters saw him being victimized by his coworkers (a fart joke that went waaaay too long). It was then that Joe Dirt figured he had to be different/better to gain the respect of his three little girls.
Joe Dirt was not in need of a sequel--but truthfully how many movies are in need of sequels? But considering the plethora of sequels out there--with the majority of them being awful--this wasn't too bad. David Spade had the same mannerisms, speech and gullibility of Joe Dirt. Brittany Daniels was still the gorgeous love interest. And even Christopher Walken reprised his role as Clem. That's where the parallels stop.
It was not quite as funny and that was really just the writing. It didn't have the same appeal, even the story wasn't as captivating. With all of that it was still entertaining enough.

I genuinely enjoyed the first Joe Dirt. It was at times funny, touching, and was actually a fairly well made movie. I cannot say the same for Joe Dirt 2. Despite this film only streaming on Crackle, it managed to get the same cast as it had before. David Spade, Christopher Walken, and stuck with the same director, Fred Wolf. Yet everything about this movie is off. The jokes fall flat, the plot is boring, the acting is horrendous. There are the occasional jokes that hit their mark, but its not enough to make up for everything else wrong with the movie. The other problem I had with the film, is that they practically copied everything from the first one. You would think that would make this film good, if you liked the first movie; but that is not the case here. The plot is almost the exact same, which makes it boring. Some of the jokes are the same, yet their jokes that were only funny the first time. And the cast is the same, which after some time into the movie, becomes redundant.
Despite its unique, unpredictable path to existence, in the end, "Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser" falls victim to the regular traps of the comedy sequel.I gave this movie three stars, and thats because i only laughed three times throughout the entire film. Joe Dirt 2 may not be beautiful, but it is a loser.

The reason I liked the first Joe Dirt a lot was because Joe Dirt was a likable and kind of an innocent character. The first movie had some crass jokes and it had some dark humor in it, but Joe Dirt was always the shinning star of the story. He felt like a real character that was just down on his luck, the humor might have been silly and gross at times but Joe Dirt was still an innocent, Naive, good person looking for his parents. That was the core of the story. A good guy that did not have the best life and wanted to find his family. What do we get here? Just a cynical version of that character.
the subtlety of the character is completely gone. This felt more like am actual mean spirited Parody of the first Joe Dirt. there was nothing deeper to this movie than just the jokes and the cameos. Say what you will about the first movie but it at least tried to have a heart underneath all the jokes. What happened to "Life is a garden, Dig It" what happened to that? that's my point. This movie felt like if it was written and Directed by Robbie (Kid Rock) from the first one. The same exact thing happened to the Dumb and Dumber sequel and the Vacation sequel. any kind of innocence and naiveness those characters had was replaced by foul humor. Not sure what is happening to comedy anymore. Everything is just loud and obnoxious today.

Now I know why this didn't get a theatrical release. It's full of the worst thing a comedy can have: awkward, dead air. The first was stupid, low-brow humor, but it was really funny. This one made me want to stop watching after twenty minutes. Not only were the jokes not very funny, I feel like there weren't many of them. Most of it was awkward conversations. The movie would also randomly focus on characters other than Joe Dirt, and they weren't funny. You might chuckle a couple times but the humor is nowhere near as consistent as the original. If you liked the first one, don't watch it. If you didn't like the first one, definitely don't watch it. Just don't watch it.
Horrible horrible horrible did I say horrible? I LOVED the original Joe Dirt with all my heart it was one my fav comedy movies of all time. This thing I couldn't wait for it to end.
First it just feels extremely cheap. You can immediately tell the budget for this movie was non existent compared to the other one. Second the jokes fell extremely flat and would only be amusing to someone smoking excessive amount of weed. Lastly this movie was actually 30 minutes to long there is no reason that this should clocked in at almost 2 hours.
Was so excited for this but ended up being disapointed.

Really disappointed in this one.
Especially since they had all the original actors all they had to do was make a continuation of the last film make it simple and funny. The whole time travel thing was an absolutely horrible idea. Ruined what could have been a great sequel to an all time classic.

It is hard to make a sequel to a movie like Joe Dirt 14 years later. The story of Joe was very much summed up in the 1st film. But the fans wanted more and more is what they got. This movie follows the path of the original. Similar if not the same Jokes. It pays homage to the 1st film giving signature words and phrases from Christopher Walken and David Spade. The production quality is there. The score is there. The cinematography and the color could be better in my opinion but that is just one mans opinion. If I had went and paid to see this film at the theater as I did to "Dumb & Dumber to" I would have been just as disappointed. However it was a free film and so like the title says. I will take it. I will watch it, I will enjoy it & I am sure I will watch it again. Because sometimes it is just plain good to see a character or characters come to life again on your screen. Whatever screen that may be.

I am a big fan of the original Joe Dirt and could not wait for the sequel. I went to Crackle and watched the movie but could not sit through the lame jokes and disconnected vignettes. So I kept skipping hoping to get a chuckle. Nothing!
Even the hilarious Christopher Walken looked embarrassed.
Mark McGrath tried to channel Kid Rock but fell flat.
Dennis Miller probably filmed his segments in one hour - was not really present in the movie.
Just abysmal.
Spade is funnier than this.

It's Joe Dirt 2! Whatever you're thinking it should be, you're wrong. Did you see Joe Dirt? Both are HILARIOUSLY FUNNY! I woke my wife up several times howling laughing. It's witty and funny in a intellectual way, if that makes sense. If you're not paying attention to the dialog you won't get it. You have to actually pay attention and watch and listen.
Joe Dirt and Joe Dirt 2 are comedy classics like Airplane and Naked Gun. I was 13 when I went to see Airplane at the theater. I asked for one ticket for the "Mat Daily story." They had no idea what I was talking about but my friends mother was cracking up. She was the only one that got it.
I just don't understand what's wrong with most people. When Austin Powers opened in the theater I was the only one cracking up. No one else thought it was funny. Now, it's a classic. It seems a lot of people just don't know what funny is until someone tells them.
I love this mindless comedy. Maybe people think it's easy to write this, but no. It's very difficult to truly make the ultra-stupid actually funny.

"It's not 2015, it's 1965." Joe Dirt (Spade) has the perfect life. Beautiful wife, great kids and is happy, but still doesn't think he's good enough. After a tornado rips through his town Joe finds himself in the past. Trying to figure out how to get back home Joe realizes that this is his chance to change who he is and become the person he thinks his wife Brandy (Daniel) really wants. The more he tries to change the worse things get. This is a sequel that I'm not sure many people were asking for. That said it wasn't that bad. There was some funny stuff in this and was about the same type of humor, maybe a little more sappy, than the original. I do really like David Spade though. The movie was a mix of Forrest Gump, Wizard of Oz and It's A Wonderful Life all mixed with a redneck spin, and to me that actually helped it and was very fun to watch. This is nothing that will become a classic, and it would have bombed bad in theaters, but as far as a rental and watch at home movie you could do worse. I liked it and was entertained enough by it. Overall, if you liked the first one you will like this one too. I give it a B.

Yep. This was a loser. At least the original was good for some laughs. This turd just wasted my life. Casting : Mark Mcgrath? Really? Bad choice there. It did have Miller, Walken, and Spade back so I thought it might be worth a look. I was wrong. When I say this is fart joke garbage, I'm not exaggerating. Contrived non-plot, no new characters worth a crap, and the old ones have no physical comedy or decent writing. None. At all. I'm writing a review on this for one reason: I hope to save you from wasting 90 minutes of your life. The first 90 minutes of Hateful 8 blows this out of the water for comedy. Check it out.

I was so excited when I first learned they were making a sequel to Joe Dirt. The first movie is such a classic David Spade comedy, certainly one of his best movies and very quotable. This sequel is an uninspired, lackluster, boring, cheap cash grab which just recycles most of the jokes from the first movie but does it worse. I can't remember laughing out loud once during this movie. I think I might have smiled or chuckled once or twice... the first movie had laughing out loud most of the runtime of the movie- this sequel is the example of a cash grab- avoid at all costs.

Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser is a seriously pathetic comedy, desperate to have its viewers recall the "nostalgia" from the original film by recycling jokes from not only its screenplay but other David Spade films such as Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star. Combine this with a two minute long session of construction workers and a bimbo farting on Joe Dirt, pixelated glasses appearing over Dirt's eyes in one scene with the caption "THUG LIFE" as if it's an internet meme, cinematography you'd swear was out of a low-rent TV commercial, and a release on the seldom-mentioned, widely dismissed video service Crackle, and you have a sorry excuse for a sequel and a film.
David Spade reprises his titular role, the mulleted simpleton who somehow managed to marry the gorgeous Brandy (Brittany Daniel) and prove himself worthy to his townfolk. He returns here to watch his wife give birth to triplets and subsequently be sucked into a tornado that makes him travel through time, back to 1965. Here, Dirt gets run out of town and chased by a biker gang helmed by Patrick Warburton and realizes that his actions in the past will tarnish his life and his friends in the present.
You know a sequel is doomed when it immediately goes for the time-travel plot, but Joe Dirt 2 doesn't even seem to be trying when it comes to its writing or its execution. Most of the actors in this film don't appear to be taking anything about this project seriously, even Spade, who lumbers through his character in a more stereotypical, stumblebum fashion than he did in the first film. It also doesn't help that Joe Dirt isn't a very interesting character to begin with; in my review of the original film, I referred to him and his film as an "anti-character study," a film that profiles a character you probably don't care about and isn't worth profiling at all.
The other part of Joe Dirt 2 is you're, again, laughing at Joe Dirt's misery instead of with his misery. This creates an ugly environment for the film, which is less about finding a fun joke or setpiece to exploit, but instead, a situation where the character can be exploited. This kind of humor is most common in Adam Sandler films, so, considering both this film and its predecessor hail from Happy Madison Productions, this style of humor shouldn't be a surprise.
Yet, the real tragedy here is watching numerous jokes and situational humor completely fall flat, with the film reeking of a bad parody. This is an unbelievably tone deaf comedy, throwing every asinine idea it has into a pot, and frankly, not caring if you think it's funny or not. Joe Dirt is a character so hungry for attention that he'll go to great lengths to get it, in situations that aren't logical nor are they funny, and the screenwriters seem to do the exact same thing. It's like everyone behind this film made it as one big joke on the audience, laughing between takes and simply speechless at the fact people could've wanted another outing with a character as insufferable as Joe Dirt.
On a final note, in an effort to analyze and recap this film's pathetic path to existence, Sony claimed to express interest in a Joe Dirt sequel when they noticed that, during Comedy Central's dozens of showings of the original film, the film would become a trending topic on Twitter. This prompted Sony to get the ball rolling on a sequel, but not in the conventional manner. Joe Dirt 2 wasn't going to be the theatrically released comedy sequel to a fourteen-year-old, low-key hit; it was going to be the debut sequel to premiere on Crackle, the video-streaming service owned by Sony. If we're supposed to look at Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser as the kickstarter for a video-streaming service, then this is one of the saddest and most pathetic exclusives to any website I, personally, have yet to see.

I thought Joe Dirt was a great character, a likable guy just couldn't catch a break. I didn't know that a sequel was made until I saw it at the video store. I was excited to see what else was in store for Joe. I ended up fast forwarding through the movie, just to get it over with. I don't know if this movie was made by Spade for the Joe Dirt fans wanting more, or just a cash grab by the studio. I liked seeing most of the original cast returning. Brittney Daniel seemed to have the most energy in the movie. The rest of the cast didn't have the edginess that made the first movie so fun to watch. Im surprised that this was what was allowed to be the followup to the classic Joe Dirt movie.

I bought this DVD accidentally thinking it was the original. Took me a while to figure out what I was watching. Though disappointed, I kept watching and had a couple belly laughs. Lots of dick & fart jokes with some gay humor mixed in ("I ain't no party boy") just to be extra offensive.
The plot, if you could call it that, is just a mish-mash of plots lifted from other movies: WIzard of Oz, Back to the Future, Cast Away, It's a Wonderful LIfe, etc.
The only part that hit me with emotional impact was when Joe was talking to young Lynyrd Skynyrd bandmates about the fame and fortune they'll experience in the future. Then one says, "We could buy our own airplane!" OUCH.

I was initially fearful that this movie would be terrible, especially after finding out that it wouldn't be on the big screen. The idea of seeing David Spade starring in a big movie again really excited me too. It's been a long time, and I'm a big fan. So, I watched this movie as soon as I could online.
The movie is a fun trip through the mind of Joe Dirt set in a familiar story so it's easy to understand. If you hadn't seen the first film, you would have no problem seeing this one for sure. And if you have seen the first one, you'll enjoy seeing all of the characters from the first again in a different way. At the end of the day, Joe is a real down to earth guy who is always learning and growing, and that's what this movie is about.
It wasn't the perfect sequel, though. As others have noted, it was not a movie we really needed. The story of Joe Dirt could have ended with the first movie just fine. The first had a more original feeling story, whereas this movie is recycling the It's a Wonderful Life story again. Doing that makes it feel more like a long episode of a TV show, since so many shows have used that plot. Not to mention that there are a couple of gags that just weren't funny at all.
This definitely isn't the better movie, as Spade claims. But if you're interested in getting more insight into Joe Dirt's mind, you will enjoy it. I know I enjoyed the ride. There were more funny jokes and fun moments that fit right into the feel of Joe Dirt. Plus, it's free to watch right now, so why wouldn't you at least check it out?

The Plot.
Many of the original actors will be reprising their roles as the Iconic acquaintances to the perpetual underdog of the films Namesake.
According to Spade this film will be aired Directly to the website Crackle in the summer of 2015.
He also stated his decision to don the Mullet once again was due to fan pressure as the original encroaches on cult status.
WOw. In other words there is no plot and this is the first in a series Sandler has t made to fulfill his 5-picture Crackle deal.
It's as bad as you could think it would be. No story and absurdly cheaply made.
If you think watching a pudgy 50 year old pretend he's 20 as he smells farts for 10 minutes, you might love this film. It's horrible. It's not even really the same character as the first movie. It's a facsimile.
It ain't Nebraska anymore.

First of all we all know this is a Crackle exclusive and wasn't made for the theaters we get that, second we know there wasn't that big of a budget but I feel like the writer and the director really tried this honestly wasn't that terrible of a movies the jokes were fresh and the ones recycled weren't too terrible yeah some scenes dragged just a little bit but it is the Joe Dirt that we know and love, I honestly loved the throwbacks to the first movie and the references is it better than the original? not by a long shot but it is still good I don't understand why so many people are hating this movie ignore the hate and watch it for yourself if you like it you like it if you don't well... you don't.

Why did this movie need to be made? The first Joe Dirt film I thought was okay it wasn't great but it was okay but the sequel is really bad. I honestly thought it was going to get released in theaters but now I see why it was released online. There were a couple times where I did chuckle but that couldn't save this movie. The acting just feels like the actors really don't care about this film and they're just waiting for a paycheck. I get where the story is going but there are points where it gets very confusing. It gets confusing with the time travel because near the end of the film you don't know what year he's in. Also there are cringe moments where your just confused. Don't check this film out if your a fan of the first Joe Dirt. After seeing this movie I appreciate the first film even more.
I loved Joe Dirt, the first movie was quirky, humorous and fun. This sequel, Joe Dirt 2 is a complete disappointment.
Yes, the characters, a lot of them, return but the potential for the same type of fun that the first movie served up was completely wasted. I gave it every opportunity to save it's self, watching to the end, and as the movie progressed it only got worse. Stupid humor, no freshness to the story or characters and by the last 30 minutes it really got so lame I wanted to turn it off.
I wish I had.
You might enjoy this flick if you are a 13 or 14 year old boy, but for everyone else I recommend you not wast your time. Even the music, which in the first film seemed to represent a perfect feeling for the story line, was way off and didn't add anything to save this mess.
