Pilot Error was inspired by true events but is a work of fiction. In June 2009 an Air France jet bound from Rio to Paris crashed in the Atlantic.That plane was found in April 2011. While production of this film was being completed a Malaysian Air jet disappeared in the Pacific and remains missing.
