2/10
Amateur filmmaking at its finest...
1 August 2024
The inherent idea behind this film is a winner, unfortunately it's executed in the worst way imaginable. One that attempts to turn Todd Phillips' film on its head by adding an extra meta-textual dimension to its story by making its protagonist a crusading transgender harlequin. It's all handled in the most bizarre way possible, one that while born out of love, was more a case of could rather than should. This isn't some hyped up B-movie schlock trying to captitalise on a trend like so many good exploitation films do, its the kind of film that reminds of early 2010s YouTubers who wanted to make feature films but didn't have the know how to do so. I wouldn't go as far as to call it completely incompetent but it's not even endearingly fun, just ultimately hollow despite good intentions.
