What would have been great is her inner voice had been one with CP, someone like Maysoon Zayid or Francesca Martinez. A comedian who could sound both authentic and understand more about what the character is actually going through.
I just found out the actress isn't non-verbal herself, so why not use her voice? It seems odd using the voice of a non-disabled actor for a disabled role.
It's an interesting idea that wasn't very well executed but it is good that more productions are not shying away from disability within stories and casting disabled actors.
I am however looking forward to seeing more of Phoebe-Rae Taylor. We need more disabled actors on screen as the visibly disabled make up about 8% of society and yet less than 0.02% of all the characters we see on screen in our movies and TV drama series have some form of disability.
