You can't help but feel sorry for the guy being born in a lab and tested on endlessly by means of torturous rooms and experimented with cruel methods every day of his life. It's no wonder why his persona is losing traction on reality.
All who surround him become either a victim or a willing participant through dubious means. Such as Barbara who was the last scientist to be left alive albeit sealed within a room along with her dead staff who were torn to pieces by Homelander.
This revenge plot has now put John on a trail of mindless destruction. The brutality that he expresses is no longer contained. Like his alter ego suggested, he went home, he took all of his frustrations out on his benefactors with a bloody outcome and now, he's free from his past.
In the weeks to come there is going to be even more gore, mayhem and destruction. I thoroughly enjoy the boys for its simple approach of how to stop the bad guys even if they are superheros. That the rules don't apply and so forth. The music soundtrack satisfies for us eighties era boomer too.
Not too many television series uses such proclivities which is why it fits so well between each scene. The action is top notch and the story continues to dazzle home audiences alike. I think that there is going to be a rather large battle soon between the heroes. What's even more disturbing is that Homelander might face off with his own son.
