Quite a beautiful and emotional movie...
15 July 2023
I had not heard about this 2022 Indonesian movie before now in 2023, as I happened to stumble upon the movie by random chance. Nor did I know that it was in fact a remake of the 2013 South Korean movie "7-Beon-Bang-Ui Seon-Mul".

Regardless, since "Miracle in Cell No. 7" was an Asian movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to sit down and watch it.

Initially I was a little bit put off by the 145 minute playtime of the movie, as it seemed a bit long for a drama. But still, I opted to what director Hanung Bramantyo had to offer. And I am glad I did, because "Miracle in Cell No. 7" turned out to be a rather nice, beautiful and enjoyable movie.

The storyline told in the movie, as written by Alim Sudio and Hwan-kyung Lee, is one that definitely sinks in and stays with you. It is a very emotional and beautiful story. And the writers really managed to create some memorable characters and put together a storyline that fully sweeps you off of your feet.

The acting performances in the movie were good, and I was especially impressed with the performance of Vino G. Bastian in the leading role as Dodo Rozak.

And I have to say that the 145 minute runtime turned out to pass by pretty quickly, because director Hanung Bramantyo was pretty good at doing what was required.

If you enjoy emotional dramas that hit home and sticks with you for a long time, then "Miracle in Cell No. 7" is definitely a movie you should sit down and watch. I was genuinely and wholeheartedly entertained throughout the entire movie.

My rating of "Miracle in Cell No. 7" lands on a seven out of ten stars.
