Okay, I am not sure if I am missing something here but I really didn't quite understand the ending. The movie was very good, the music was beautiful and managed to pull me in. The acting was first rate and the film took it's time to tell it's story and to create mood and tension like any good film should. But it's the last part where things seem to unravel, well, for me at least.
The film revolves around a disparate group of people that all seem to have their own secrets and hidden traumas. They are all quite tragic in their own way.
There is a lonely man who films auditions for a movie that is clearly bever going to be made. He his career and marriage have imploded and he misses his daughter terribly.
Then there is a writer who id guilt ridden and grieving over the loss of her husband, a detective who talks to his partner who was killed by a shot to her head.
The hotel owner who is missing his dead husband and other characters who all wander in and out of the film The actors are all great and even though it's done on a very tight budget, it's still a good movie...so what went wrong? Well, it really seemed to lose the story at the last part of the film. It had an excellent setup with either ghosts, or some kind of supernatural occurrences happening that seemed to involve a lot of dust, There was a real sense of mystery and dread that suddenly seemed to veer off and it has left me scratching my head. What the hell happened? Now I don't expect every movie to spoon feed me and explanation and sometimes an ambiguous ending can be perfect, but not in this case, I think if things had not been so artistic, it could have been a better movie. It's still an interesting watch, it kept me invested through the whole film and I think that's the problem, I really wanted to understand what was going on and I felt a little let down and cheated at the end.
I might go back and watch it again to see if it becomes clearer. Or maybe I am just missing something. This is still a good film, it just need to be a little more focused and clear in it's intent.
