Miss Pilot (2013– )
6/10
"Very thank you!"

At first I expected the series to revolve solely on Maki Horikita's character : the aimless, naïve, kind and persistent kid that grows to love her new path in life.

But this is an ensemble story that has develops in a rather strange and unconventional structure, as well as content-wise. Primarily, the series delivers VERY technical and educational content on everything related to airports and learning to fly. So much so it made me think it was made to attract youths of Japan (specially more females) into becoming pilots. The level of production is quite high and you can get a very clear and in-depth look at a business from the ground up. From interviews, ground-work, to international training and simulators. Then there are sparse sprinkles of romance developing during training, as well as ups and downs that might seem "life ending" or a bit heavy at times, and others might feel rushed and superficial.

I wasn't entirely pleased with it, and it gets weaker the closer it is to end. Thankfully, this is one of those dramas where the first episode is almost like a completed product, with a somewhat-satisfying conclusion, and gives a decent idea of what is to come if you decide to continue watching.

From the informational point of view alone, it would be quite easy for me to recommend! As a drama with a focused tone, gut-punching emotional core or message? It is very lacking.
