Cheap but energetic
26 November 2022
CROCODILE EVIL is an extremely obscure and extremely low budget Hong Kong horror film detailing the popular subject of black magic. It feels like a cheap riff on a Shaw flick and indeed begins with a cameoing Ku Feng playing a black magician killed by his upstart apprentice. The action then follows some Chinese tourists who visit Thailand and pick up a wounded girl by the roadside only to find themselves in the middle of a curse. A guy turns white and is hospitalised with vomiting, the others are constantly menaced by the supernatural, and a white wizard has to help out. Some gooey bits, some cheesy FX and a little animal violence are the order of the day in this cheap but energetic production.
