Henri Verneuil is a great director, with many masterpieces to his credit. This movie is not one of the masterpieces. It is meant to be a comedy but is not comic at all, it's just one of his starting films. Fernandel and Gino Cervi have no fun. They weren't great actors either. I don't recommend it to anyone.
