Quite unfair bad ratings to this film. It is not a masterpiece in the history of cinema, obviously, but few films are. It is a good drama on the sea. Characters are well developed, much more detailed and deep than in 99% of the films from Hollywood with similar approaches. There are moments in which spectator feels lacking air while seeing the characters' drama, what is a remarkable achievement for the director. There is a sequence of continuity errors in the last scenes prior the ending one, and it was bad, but not enough to worsen the rating the film deserves.
Before watching it, I thought it was a remake of a good horror film on the sea, Harpoon, but indeed it is a remake of a drama from Netflix, Open Water 2 - Adrift, which I have not watched. Then, I cannot say if it is a remake as good as, better than, or worse than the original film. However, I do can say that this is a good mainstream drama from Portugal cinema that worth be watched, and its bad ratings should not be trusted. Harsh critics probably derive from prejudice, something very common when the films are spoken in Portuguese and absent in similar movies that are talked in English.
