Why remake something that worked to begin with?...
3 July 2021
I stumbled upon the 2014 Thai comedy "Satri lek tob lok taek" (aka "Iron Ladies Roar!") in 2021. I didn't even know about this movie's existence before now, as I sat down to watch it.

So little did I know that this was essentially just a remake of the 2000 "Satree lek" (aka "Iron Ladies") movie. And that sort of made the 2014 "Iron Ladies Roar!" feel somewhat redundant and unnecessary. But at the same time, sure, if you weren't familiar with the original movie, then I suppose that this 2014 version proves entertaining enough.

This 2014 version was, however, not as funny or enjoyable as the 2000 original version, for better or worse. So director Poj Arnon just didn't manage to haul in this movie in a satisfying manner.

The storyline told in "Iron Ladies Roar!" is straight forward and easy to follow. And of course it is similar to the story told in the 2000 "Iron Ladies" movie.

Now, what made "Iron Ladies Roar!" feel inferior to the original "Iron Ladies" movie was the characters, the actors portraying them just didn't have the sass or charisma as the cast had in the original movie.

"Iron Ladies Roar!" lands a mediocre five out of ten stars from me, as it was essentially a rather unnecessary remake.
