When boys are forced to become men...

Granted, a movie like the 2004 comedy "My Baby's Daddy" is pretty much what you would expect it to be, for better or worse. And on that account, then this is somewhat of a movie that will either find appeal with you or not. I don't believe that there is any real middle ground here.

I must say that this 2004 comedy from writers Eddie Griffin, Coke Daniels, Brent Goldberg and David Wagner was actually the type of old school comedy, very reminiscent of the 1990s, that I enjoyed. So of course "My Baby's Daddy" was something that spoke and appealed to me.

The storyline in "My Baby's Daddy" was pretty straight forward and delivered exactly what you would expect. So on that account then director Cheryl Dunye managed to bring what was necessary to the table.

What really made "My Baby's Daddy" work was the rather impressive ensemble of casted actors and actresses that they had managed to pull in for this movie, with the likes of Eddie Griffin, Anthony Anderson, Michael Imperioli, Joanna Bacalso, Bai Ling, Tom Lister Jr.and John Amos, to mention but a few. This was really a very nice cast, and they performed quite well in the respective roles and characters.

There is a good amount of comedy throughout the course of the movie. Sure, it is not the style of comedy that will have you rolling on the floor, holding your belly, cramping up from laughing. But it was good situational comedy that was well-written and well-delivered.

All in all, I have to say that I was more than adequately entertained by "My Baby's Daddy", and it was a movie that was well-worth taking the time to sit down and watch.

My rating of the 2004 comedy "My Baby's Daddy" lands on a six out of ten stars.
