The first thing you notice about this film is that it has a green tinge or filmed with a green filter. It is rather distracting to say the least. Green could mean envy but I doubt this film has that much depth to do that on purpose.
It is a story about a girl returning home to run her late mother's book shop and corrupt police officers & one of them is the parent of the girl that enjoys bullying her & there are werewolves too. It seems to perpetuate the notion that the police in small towns often take and interpret the laws as they see fit, as in this film they are devoid of it completely. They instead subscribe to a mob mentality.
They also borrow from romantic comedy She's not all that in that she supposed to look like plain Jane with geeky glasses on & un-styled hair. However she later turns out to be attractive underneath all that. It is as unbelievable as people not noticing that Superman is Clarke Kent minus the glasses and reporter attire.
The ingredients are there for a suspenseful film but like baking a cake, just because you have all the right ingredients, it does not necessary mean the chief (the film maker/director) can achieve this. That's why people are more likely to make half baked cakes than masterpieces. Unfortunately this falls into the latter category.
