Gimmick (2019)

"Please don't fall for this gimmick!"
17 August 2019
This is the second film by director Naganna this month after 'Kurukshetra' which released last week. Most of the film has been shot in Sri Lanka and remaining parts in Karnataka. The amusing thing is that the title of the film itself is enough to tell you how good this film really is!

The story has nothing new in it. The same old story of a rich businessman's girl falling in love with a poor boy. The girl's father who is unhappy with their relationship conspires to get the boy killed with the help of a rowdy who invites the boy's family into a haunted house. How the boy comes out of the circumstances, forms the remaining part of the story.

The screenplay is very silly, with several bouts of idiotic & senseless comedy sequences which doesn't evoke any laughter. The cinematography is good enough but the unimpressive music and direction makes this movie a very tedious watch!

Ganesh has acted well in his typical comical style. The rest of the cast has also performed well except for Ronica Singh, who is a total misfit for the role. She looks overweight, more like Ganesh's mother rather than his girlfriend! The director could have given an opportunity to some native actress.

Overall this film is outright boring and awkward with too much of silliness. Be careful not to fall for this gimmick!
