Well THAT was energizing! One moment you're enjoying the humor of being a fly-on-the-wall in the midst of an intimate gathering of over-privileged, artistically pretentious, cynical-and-proud-of-it beautiful young people spewing casual racism even as they put their own sophisticated twist on cultural appropriation. And then...seconds before the end THERE IS A REVEAL that manages to reframe everything even as it leaves you with an even more nuanced feeling of unease. I apologize for parallels, but the only person who's walking this same modern-culture/racism/humor tightrope with such incisive intelligence and casual grace right now is Jordan Peele. (Oh, and BTW I hope I can say this cause I'm also a female? But the color-saturated opening frame of an Emma Stone lookalike with the kind of red hair Technicolor was made for sort of jump started my energy.)
