This film is a blatant copy of the Hrishikesh Mukharji masterpiece Golmal and a pathetic one too. Jagadish's acting stands out as a sore thumb. In the original Amol Palekar displayed a roguish innocence. In this Jagadish is crass. In Golmal the subtle comedy of Amol is contrasted with the loud and flamboyant overacting of Utpal Dutt to create hilarious results. Here, Jagadish is not anywhere near subtle, and the veteran Madhu utterly fails to be the outlandish counterpart.
If you have never watched the original film, you may find some moments of mad hilarity, thanks to the entire script they pinched. I would recommend the original anytime.
But Simhavalan Menon is still way better than what emerged when Bollywood tried to remake it- the atrocious Bol Bachchan.
