TEAR ME APART is an indie thriller that seems to owe a huge debt to THE ROAD; like that movie it's a post-apocalyptic journey, albeit one that takes place in a single setting. The main characters are a couple of young guys who turn to cannibalism to survive in a hostile world, but the plot becomes more complex when an intended victim instead turns into a romantic interest.
The thing I most liked about this film was the photography; it's filmed on cliffs and a beach in Cornwall for the most part, and it looks lovely. As a post-apocalypse film, the countryside setting is a bit of a cheat, as there are no ruined or derelict centres of civilisation or the like; you wouldn't know there had been an apocalypse if the characters hadn't mentioned it. On the downside, TEAR ME APART has a very slow pace and rather boring characters, although some of the romantic bits are rather touching. The best part is a suspenseful interlude with some bad guys who have come straight out of THE WALKING DEAD.
