Viendo a Biondi (1961–1969)
10/10
Best comedy act ever
5 December 2013
I grew up watching this programme in Argentina. It is without a doubt the best comedy show ever but you need to be born in Argentina and speak Argentine Spanish to understand it in its entirety. It consists of a series of sketches all played by Pepe Biondi with supporting actors. It is not about famous people but the characters are people you might meet in daily life. For example, some of his characters are: a tough guy (what in Argentina is known as "Guapo" a word that in Spain means handsome but in Argentina means "tough guy"); a corrupt sort of lawyer; a narcissist man; and so on. Every sketch is hilarious. The point is that his humour is clean and a bit slapstick but also very clever. It can be enjoyed by the whole family. His TV ratings by today's standards are unbelievable. It is said that during a stint in Cuba in the predecessor of this programme you could not find people in the streets when his programme was on. During the years "Viendo a Biondi" was on, nobody would watch anything else on TV, it had the highest rating of any comedy show.
