Belhorizon is a modest film about vacuity of human life. What is really amazing about this film is that it uses some mind boggling dream like sequences to portray absence of thought or intelligence which is usually associated with people from rich and bourgeois class. In Belhorizon,Ines Rabadan has been overtly critical of rich people. She shows them as uncertain, hesitant, irresponsible souls who are much too engrossed in their own ideas, desires and fake inner worlds. We see them trying to kill time but they are unable to move the hands of time as nothing pleases them.A shooting session conducted to enliven their listless lives ends in a fiasco. What we see in the film is not a new theme for world cinema. In the past,on many occasions Pasolini and Bunuel are known to have exorcised the demons of petty bourgeoisie. They knew absolutely well how such people could be silenced. It is this ability to suppress bourgeois ideology that is missing in Ines Rabadan's film as there is no coherency between two groups : bourgeois people and poor class people.
