Roj

10/10

A wonderful movie

This is, even in Serbia, almost an unknown movie. It is hardly ever shown on TV, unlike many movies from recent years, not closely this good.

What is so great about this movie? Not many things I can express in words, but it is simply one of those movies that you enjoy watching and that draw you into their plot. Acting is superb, with several stars like Rade Markovic, Bata Stojkovic and Mira Stupica, but Bekim Fehmiu is the one that gives you the shivers (you may have seen him in "Skupljaci perja" or "Specijalno vaspitanje"). He plays double role, and although his two characters are brothers, he makes them very different.

The production may not be very rich, but it succeeds in bringing you to another time, a few-hundred years ago, when Turks ruled Serbia. Even the character played by Bata Stojkovic, who is supposed to be a hero (a so-called hajduk), is a very unusual one, so people depicted here are all real-life people.

I am trying not to reveal the plot in any way, since it is very interesting; on its surface, it is a detective story, but it considers very deep motives, beyond any relationship between persons. Well, see it if you get the opportunity!
