Great Storyline, Great Acting
20 March 2008
First of all I loved the way this movie was shot (I later learned that it's called Film Noir). The gritty style of the film intensified the feeling of despair, hardship and uncertainties taking place in the film. The flashbacks are more than suitable; they are esthetically intriguing and the bright flashbacks are also used very appropriately as a tool for shedding light on the horrific and gruesome past the characters in the film has to face. The acting is pitch perfect; it is down to earth and subtle, and at the same time innocent and fresh. I especially enjoyed watching Ben and Emily's characters, their complex and disturbing relationship as siblings and their quest to find and establish a connection with their mother who left them as young children. Even though this is a short film, I felt like the story and the characters are well developed and very believable. In the 27 minute long film I caught myself being pulled in to the storyline more than once.
