Review of True Crime

True Crime (1999)
6/10
typical clint eastwood piece
9 April 2006
i don't believe eastwood has ever directed a movie i didn't like. while TRUE CRIME isn't one of his best it is nonetheless engaging. if you like good character development you should enjoy this movie. all the performances were strong in my opinion and that even includes the two young daughters. i do have a couple negative comments. i don't particularly care for the title. it sounds like the name of a detective magazine for one thing and seems rather meaningless to the story. it also falls into the category of last second salvation which is very overused. i would have sworn this movie was a remake of the 1948 jimmy stewart film 'call north-side 777', however, i found no mention of this in the production notes. surely the person who wrote this story was influenced by that movie.
