Anti-bigotry
For goodness sake this isn't an anti religion rant. Plenty of characters in the show are religious including the president himself, who is obviously well-versed in the bible. I suppose they're not Christian fundamentalist though so don't really count as religious at all?
But that character (who was apparently disrespectful by sitting while POTUS was standing) is a bigot who needed taking down a peg or two. These people who cherry pick their favourite bits from the bible.
The scene is based on the 'Dr Laura questions' (Google it) and the character based on 'Dr' Laura Schlessinger.
Great episode and I just love that scene.
