Karina arrives at a countryside house to work as a governess for a group of singing children: Mari Nieves, Blanca, Carlos, Javier, and Santi, known in Spain as "La Pandilla". She arrives as a governess to the home of some children who belong to the musical group La Pandilla, so she teaches her classes singing. Meanwhile, the record company where the children work is busy with another project. Their biggest star Marta (Marisa Medina) is preparing a song to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 1971. Carlos (José Rubio) -son of the lady of the house (Guadalupe Muñoz Sampedro)- the composer of the song, titled "En un mundo nuevo" ("In a new world") meets Karina in the mansion and has feelings for her, upsetting Marta, who is his girlfriend. Marta is also jealous of Karina's musical abilities. One day, when Marta catches Karina with Carlos singing a song he composed for her, she gives him an ultimatum: If Karina doesn't leave the mansion at once, she will break her contract with the record company and won't sing "En un mundo nuevo" in the Eurovision Song Contest.
During the 60s and 70s it was fashionable in Spanish cinema to release films to the greater glory of the singers of the moment, such as Julio Iglesias, Massiel, Peret, Bruno Lomas, and of course Marisol and Rocio Durcal. On this occasion Karina was given the opportunity along with a group of child singers who form the group La Pandila. At a time when Spain was experiencing the euphoria of Massiel's victory in the Eurovision Festival, it is normal that Karina was offered a leading role in a story in which she is proposed to participate with the song "En Un Mundo Nuevo" which in turn gives the title to the film. The teen Karina gives a likeable acting as a young governess who must take care of their education, and she decides to use music to teach them. The two main protagonists , Karina and José Ribio, are finely accompanied by a familar cast with plenty of ordinay secondaries, such as: Guadalupe Muñoz Sampedro, Juanito Navarro, Marisa Medina, Joaquín Prat, María Kosty, Ángel Álvarez, Paquito Cano¨Locomotoro¨ , Florinda Chico,in her common role as a servant character that usually competed with Rafaela Aparicio) and the tireless actor Andrés Pajares.
This is a very mediocre film, only suitable for nostalgic people and people who are already old enough to remember their childhood or youth. Here Karina is in all her splendor, and it must be considered in her favor that perhaps today, more than fifty years later, she is one of the few singers who is still active, even though she always sings the same songs, which are the ones that are heard in this film. There're various catching song in the film, such as: ¨Lección de urbanidad¨ Written by Waldo de los Ríos performed by Karina and La Pandilla. ¨Por qué no eres tu mi mamᨠwritten by Waldo de los Ríos performed by Karina and Mari Blanca Ruíz Martínez. ¨En un mundo nuevo¨ written by Tony Luz and Rafael Trabuchelli arranged by Waldo de los Ríos performed by Karina. ¨El baúl de los recuerdos¨ written by Tony Luz performed by Karina and La Pandilla. ¨Tú y yo¨written by Tony Luz performed by Karina. ¨Yo te diré¨ written by Jorge Halpern and Enrique Llovet performed by Karina. ¨El capitán de madera¨ written by Juan Pardo performed by La Pandilla. ¨Mi perro¨ written by Mochi (as Juan Erasmo Mochi) performed by La Pandilla.
The motion picture was mediocrely but professionally directed by Ramón Torrado and the television filmmaker Fernando Garcia de la Vega took care of the choreographic and ballet work. The artisan Ramón Torrado was born in 1905, Galicia, Spain. He was a director and writer, known for directing some vehicles for well-known Folkloric Cinema stars such as Peret in ¨Amor a Todo gas¨ (1969), Manolo Escobar in ¨Un Beso en Puerto¨ (1966) and Paquito Rico in ¨Malvaloca¨ ( 1954). The previous ones being successes sufficient, and Torrado continued making other musical films of a similar style. And he even made four Paella Westerns: ¨Los Cuatreros¨ de 1965, ¨La Carga de la Policía Montada¨ de 1964, ¨Relevo a Pistolero¨ de 1964 y ¨Bienvenido, Padre Murray¨ de 1963. Torrado is known for his work with the undisputed star of Spanish films of the time, Manolo Escobar, whom he directed in ¨Mi Cancion es para Ti¨, ¨Un Beso en el Puerto¨ and ¨El Padre Manolo¨. En un mundo nuevo(1972) Rating: 4.5/10. Acceptable and passable but the film is only aimed at fans of the Spanish musical comedy of the sixties and seventies.
