Slow burn
It took some time to work out a sense of where and how it was all going to unfold.
And it did take some time to find a balance between the black and bleak humour and what in the end was a fairly simple whodunnit.
It was at first difficult to connect with the characters who were on the whole seemingly dim witted or malevolent... I could see why some may have watched one episode and turned off. There's so much to watch, so much to binge, so little time... But I think perseverance pays off here.
Some may find the wrapping up a bit too schmaltzy however nothing wrong with a bit of sentimentality at this time of year.
