Review of Twitch

Twitch (2005)
10/10
Twitch is powerful

I saw it at the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City Utah. It's about a girl who's afraid she'll end up in a wheelchair like her mom. She tries to confide in her boyfriend but he is insensitive and oblivious. The film effectively cuts back and forth between her strained relationship with her mother and her conflicted relationship with her boyfriend. The actors gave strong performances, very realistic. Most of the time it didn't even seem like they were acting. It seemed like they were actually experiencing. Especially the lead girl. She is one to keep an eye on. Overall it was quite an emotionally moving film. That's probably why it won the Grand Jury prize.
