There are a couple of things about this series that early on made no sense. Number one what is a Swedish cop doing working in the UK; and two, where did he get this money to have a Mercedes and a nice apartment?
River is haunted by the ghost of his partner after witnessing her murder; and spends quite a lot of time conversing with her ghost, whether at home or on the job. This of course is noticed by many around him. It's obvious his 'issues' interfere with his work and disrupts the storyline.
In the end after much unraveling of alibis, excuses, and family dramas we're hit with a mild surprise that I guessed shortly before it was revealed.
The cast is great and this series would've been more believable if his relationship with Stevie was seen once or twice in flashbacks instead of being a regular character that's in every scene.
