Review of Route 10

Route 10 (2001)
9/10
A beautiful film with excellent acting - I wanted more.

Route 10 is like the first 15 minutes of a feature that you'd like to see the rest of. Beautifully shot (35mm cinemascope, I think)- it's not often in a short film you get to tell so much of the story using beautiful images and not words. Will Wallace as the hitcher is an unexpectedly "good" character dealing with a variety of reclusive desert women. Maryam Dalan is completely unrecognizable as "Miss Carla" and steals the show with her tremendous acting talent. The twist at the end would have been better if we discovered the killer 60 minutes later- but, hey, it's a short film and it has to end sooner than later. Try and see it projected - it's definitely worth a look. -Winner, Lake Arrowheard Film Fest, 2004
