I highly recommend this movie. I grew up in Czechoslovakia and this one was one of my favorites. I sometimes miss the light touch, self-mocking undertone and the absurd sense of humor in comedy making , as it appears in many Czech comedies of the 1960-1970's era, which was really refreshing during the "heavy" cold war times over there. Couple of other ones I greatly miss, because of the same reason, are Divka na kosteti and Pane vy jste vdova, if you ever have a chance to view, they are also hilariously funny and really endearing. They had a great way of bringing the fantastic and magical into our every day reality, making you wish you really could travel through your plumbing or jump into a well and show up in a different world. Witty enough for adults, while clean and fun for kids, too. My only hope is some day I'll be able to purchase these movies here in the US on DVD.
