8/10
Beautiful short about loneliness, isolation, and a lost umbrella.
13 January 2003
I thought this 10 minute film was absolutely wonderful. Though on the surface it may seem to be the story of a woman who is a bit too emotionally attached to her umbrella, if you look beneath you will find a story about a woman who has finally realized that she is alone and that she is not quite as safe and sound as she once thought she was, hiding beneath her umbrella, her perspective completely changed forever. Tara Hungerford, the writer and star of this short, was hauntingly beautiful as the young woman and I hope to hear more from her in the future. Also interesting, are the two philosophers in the cafe, played by science fiction writer William Gibson and "Generation X" author Douglas Coupland. A must see if you have the means.
