Review of Dôlè

Dôlè (2000)
7/10
Not often that one gets to see a film from the African nation of Gabon
25 July 2002
Dôlè is a nice little flick. Fun while you watch, and it fades quickly afterwards. The story concerns four teenage buddies who love to have fun. They run complex shoplifting runs with each other. The film's biggest problem is that these boys cross from the realm of adolescent incorrigibility into adult criminality. It gets difficult to like them after a while. The script contains a lot of cliches, but, overall, it is pretty entertaining. The music is really nice, as well. If it weren't for the big cop-out in the third act, the film would probably be a lot more acceptable. The title refers to a scratch card lottery game that the locals are obsessed with. 7/10.
